I'd be shocked to see him get any ice-time over people that actually try night-in, night-out.
We can move him next summer when his team hit is cheap.

What a useless press conference that was.

If your not going to say anything, why have the press conference? Jesus christ.

For those people that paid attention to hockey this year, the Habs took the Bruins to seven games losing three in OT and we didn't have Gregory Campbell in our lineup.I'll be honest,I don't want to show our cards. If you can't see I'm not going to spell it out for you.

From the sounds of it, "our picture is pretty much painted" or whatever, seems like the Habs won't be doing all that much then re-upping guys and letting everyone else get a year older. Sometimes I'd rather take chances and be mediocre then do nothing and be mediocre. He keeps referring to all the changes in the Gomez/Cammy year..well that doesn't mean we can't try to improve again...

I liked hearing that he said that space in the cap can always be made by moving contracts if needed. Sure Richards and Carter are better players than Gomez right now, but the 12 and 9 year contracts with NTC kicking in next year are going to be worse than moving a Gomez....especially with Carter's injury history.

I'd venture to say that gomez has been sub-par for 3 straight seasons.... last season was just downright awful though.

When has he had a good year? With the Devils?

But are your expectations of Gomez because of his contract, or the player himself?

Yeah that definitely caught my attention when he said that, but I think it was just about keeping our core intact, which is completely understandable with that change that happened 2 years ago. Personally he gave me the impression, that he has a few things up his sleeve. Just the way he talked about cap space and its fluidity, and he kept on reiterating the fact he won't saying about his plans with the club. We Will see soon...

LOL.... I've come to expect that from Gauthier so didn't even bother to the audio replay. He is completely the opposite of Brian Burke who is always shooting his mouth off. Gauthier is quietly efficient and I think he is steadily putting the pieces into place.

The next couple of weeks will be interesting

You never know with Gauthier. He dismissed questions about Yemelin and acted disinterested.... shortly thereafter, Yemelin was signed. He creates no expectations and then makes some intriguing moves.

I definitely understand PG's comments about successful teams being in place for a long period of time before winning--i.e. chemistry and such. But, the Habs are not in the position yet to be true Cup contenders. There are several needs, and when I hear PG talk as if there isn't much to be done it can be frustrating. Especially on the offensive side of things. And even more so knowing there really aren't any blue chip scorers coming up who we can wait on.

Unfortunately, there isn't much out there obtainable for the Habs that would make an impact great enough to place us in the upper tiers of the league. So maybe it's another year of finishing 7-9 and hoping for a strong playoff run. If Gomez could make a nice comeback, then things can change, but I have little reason to believe we have yet to see the best from Mr. Gomez.
