Andrei is back woooo! Makes our defense look much, much better on paper. Now bring back Wiz or find a top 2 pairing guy with lots of grit. Then somehow find some top 6 scoring. I'm pulling for a Jagr

Nice! Now let's just hope he can stay healthy. I will cross my fingers and hope to be surprised with a Wiz signing soon!

I agree with you brother. I don't see why we wouldn't sign Wiz at this point. We'd still have around $4M for a top 6 FA winger.

Actually if you knew anything about hockey, they didn't,and they've restocked their prospect and young talent pool, while picking up an elite goalie

The Habs just secured themselves one of the best top 2 on D in the league.

Good deal. Anything under $6 million is a good deal. I am glad we are done with this signing. Now we can concentrate on free angency.

Actually length and term is what I thought he would get. There is absolutely no point in signing him for one year. Either the guy is ready to play or he isn't. If he isn't, he shouldn't get a contract offer at all. If he is then give him the same term and sign him short term 2-3 years. He's still in his prime then, and in 3 years Cammy, Gomez & Gionta's contracts are up.

Now, we should try and trade Wiz' rights and get a 2nd rd pick.

Their two best defenseman are 36 and 37, they are supposed to be in a win now mode and traded 2 of their top 3 forwards away.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe LTIR salary counts against the cap in the offseason (when you need the space to sign players) and during the season until the player has been on the list for a certain amount of days, and then you get the cap space retroactively? Still harmful to the team.

Then there's the possibility that Markov has recovered enough to play, but not enough to play well. He should still be good on the PP, with his hand skills and smarts. But he needs his mobility to be the tough minutes muncher he used to be.

That said, I'm hoping Markov comes back as brilliant as ever. It's just a big risk if he doesn't.

I knew it would be worth staying up tonight, my favorite player, couldn't be happier!

Anyone knows if the +35 rule might disappear with the new CBA? I think it would've been in both Montreal's and Markov's interest to have him sign next contract under 35 years otherwize.

Maybe that's so but can't a team go over cap until the beginning of the next seasons training camp, thus negating having a player on ltir during the offseason?

You think they're actually done? And their forwards are still much deeper than anyone elses, much deeper than our lot, that's for sure

Philly might be stocked with young talent but 2 of their core defensemen are 37 yrs old. Their young talent better get good quick and team gel quickly too. Their not as intimidating offensively right now.
