$5.75 million per season?! Wow. So much for the injury discount. He was a guy I was hoping the Leafs would be in on, but not at that kind of money.

Wonder what this does to the asking price of other offensive UFA defensemen.

Burke won't waste assets on a prospect, he will on a legitimate #1 center like he tried to do today with Richards and Carter.

Well, yes, Schenn has yet to make an NHL team. That's a far cry from a legitimate top line center.

Yes.

Schenn is not an established #1 in the NHL.

5.75M? That's really steep for a guy who's knees are on the verge of exploding.

I think they over paid for him. I'm guessing this means there's no chance they resign Wisneiwski.

I wonder what the time frame for Schenn, the 8th pick, and Voracek to make significant impact if Philly wants to stay a Stanley Cup contender for the present with Tiimmonen and Pronger aging.

That's pretty steep for a guy who has played 52 games combined in the last 2 seasons.

Though when healthy, he is one of the best in the game at his position.

It's a tricky thing to balance youth and veteran effectiveness.

it's been a good thing for the ducks when they won, but then again it was also with three HOF hockey players. So let's see what happens.

Make that three forgot the finnish rocket.

Man it's going to be very interesting on what's going ot happen, i wouldn't personally haven't just traded away our own core for trades like those unless there was a heavy mistake or mess in our organization.

It sounds like there may have been issues with at least Richards. Perhaps Holmgren didn't like the character of a couple of guys, and needed to shake things up.

Taking a cue from Columbus, LA and Philly, it's time Leafs fans face facts that if you want to improve this team, we have to part with one of or any combination of Kadri, Kulemin or Luke Schenn. Or you can keep dreaming about Brad Richards not signing a 10 year contract in TO, because we know Burke will never have this. If you are not prepared to deal one, both or all of these guys then really no one should be complaining about not acquiring a #1 Center.

fine with me. We have to fill up the cupboard first if we want to get involved in this. LA had the resources avaliable to make this trade after years of sucking. Too bad the Leafs started late. But having 5 1st rounders in the cupboard is a good start. columbus even trading voracek and the 8th pick, still have Savard, Filataov, Johanson, Moore in the system so it doesn't hurt them.

The better reality for them is that they won't be out of it when they do retire.

Next year

JVR - Briere - Hartnell
Versteeg - Giroux - Voracek
Carcillo - Schenn - Simmonds < --------- can u say 'oh fack'?

with rumours they will resign Leino, that's not bad. And it could get better over the next few years.

Add in the 8th - Dougie Hamilton?

Schenn carries as much value as both Kadri and Kulemin combined. I would not trade both for B Schenn.
