Why wouldn't I be? Players come and go. It is the team that matters. "Play for the crest on the front not the name on the back." That's how I am about being a fan too. Cheer for the team not the players. I will miss Richards, but he is not a Flyer anymore. Sucks, but move on. Go Flyers!!!

Bunch of sentimental babies on here. There's a reason you're not GM's. It's because you'd never be able to make decisions like this. It was fun while it lasted, time to look forward to the future.

"Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won’t come again
And don’t speak too soon
For the wheel’s still in spin
And there’s no tellin’ who that it’s namin’
For the loser now will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin’"

Forgive me for being pissed that the powers that be just blew up a team that went to the Cup Finals last year and are now in a full blown rebuild. This team has just become very, very young, with the exception of the top defensemen who will be retired by the time the youngsters are ready to roll.

I see today's moves as a step back. Not a permanent step back, but a definite step back from where the team was yesterday.

No real fan would forsake their team over a couple of trades.

I'll wait until the off-season is over to decide how I feel about these moves.

Sorta makes the Pronger trade completely pointless.

I am still stunned and it has ruined my day, but the world is not over.

- We just added the #1 prospect in the NHL Brayden Schenn.
- We got a solid (albeit dime a dozen) guy in Wayne Simmonds
- We just got a 80 pt potential guy in Voracek
- We got the #8 pick that could very well turn into Adam Larsson if we move up (could be Murphy or Hamilton if we stay)

With 1 or 2 more personnel moves, we could be in the Brad Richards hunt... and if we get Brad Richards the Philadelphia Flyers are back in the Cup picture.

Silly question....my fanship of the Flyers is not based on any one player...if Gretzky can get traded, anyone can be traded....I think people are being far to dramatic....these trades yielded us high return in the form of our new young studs who are going to be great players.

And add into this, the lack of leadership by Richards and the rumors of troubles inside the dressing room, this deal will serve us well for years to come....yes we have taken a bit of a step backwards short term, but long term we are looking great......now all we need to do know is add a solid defensive prospect and all will be good again!

With Winnipeg back HOME, i'm still bleeding orange & black
will always be flyers fan
winnipg, will just be far away second

Don't understand why some of you want Brad richards or how you'd think he be able to set us apart from the pack and get us to the finals for sure

too much money and he doesn't fit the flyers persona
let him take someone else's money
we just got rid of something like 50 some million over next 9 seasons,(richards+carter - Bryz) why put it all back into getting one player who doesn't or woudn't fit in

1. We get a Goalie who is bottom of the real No1 goalies for a top3 salary
2. We get a solid 3rd line checking center who can score
3. We get a solid Top 6 Forward with potential
4. We get a first round pick
5. We get a elite Prospect who has never shown anything on the elite LVL but already making 3.1 million per year.

After Gagne we loose 2 other Players who was very important for the whole organisation. We also will loose Boucher who was a fan favourit as well. We also loose Lappy to injury.

Iam really pissed right now.

But Philly is a religion, not something i can end by myself. Its emotional and heavy to take.

But it is what it is

25% of you said no?!?!

You don't know what is going on with these trades, other that they've been reported to media outlets and that's about it. The dust won't settle on this trade for a long, long time. Relax. Your mom wasn't traded or anything.

Have a look at the usernames that voted "no". I hardly recognize any of them and many are obvious Pens/Debs fans etc. (I was surprised too until I looked)

I became a Flyers fan because my favorite player (JR) was traded to them and left the team in the same fashion (Richie). To be fair to myself, it took a great deal of dedication to be a Flyers fan on the other side of the country for as long as I did and to say I was not a real Flyers fan is quite ignorant. When I got to college and got the NHL package, I watched and analyzed more than 500 Flyers games. I believe that my case is significantly different than a Philadelphian that is no longer a Flyers fan after today's events as I grew up with the Kings 82 games a year on FSN-West with Bob Miller and Jim Fox and went to nearly a hundred games at the Great Western Forum and Staples Center.

Like I said, I don't owe the city of Philadelphia or the Flyers anything in return for an amazing 10 years, it is time to move on for ME. No matter what, until I die, Los Angeles is my city. It just hurts more because the Flyers are the team that I chose to follow, not the team that I was dealt based upon my geographic location and family history (Lakers, Dodgers, Browns). Best of luck to the Flyers, I will continue to keep a close eye on them, which is most likely closer than 75% of the population of "Real Fans" in Philadelphia.

of course im still a fan
i love this team
sure today was a wtf moment
as was trading rod brindamour
but everyone soon fell in love with keith primeau

its a business
and the flyers can go without carter who is a hot cold player and a ghost in the playoffs

and richards who seemed to pack it in this past season

maybe hartnell will play better this year since all his drinking buddies are now gone
(Lupul Upshall Carter Richards)

***** and moan mostly. Kind of like the usual but more intensified for the next few days. Then the doldrums of summer will hit. By training camp it will be back to business as usual.

Sabres fan here... just wow. I can't believe you guys traded Richards. Just can not believe it. Recent playoff animosity aside, Richards really won me over in the Olympics - watching him play with Nash and Toews was really something else. Yeah, he crosses the line sometimes, but he's a phenomenal two-way player, always a threat short-handed, and leaves it all on the ice. I guess the off-ice stuff must have been pretty substantial, but still... wow. Why not just take the C, give him Pronger's A, and give the C to Pronger? Wouldn't that at least be worth a shot? Seems like a lot of the issues were because he was the captain, and obviously that wasn't working out.

How many more top-level years does management/ownership realistically expect to get out of guys like Pronger, Briere, Timonen, etc.? Sure seemed like you guys were in win-now mode, but trading your two top forwards for prospects and picks does seem to jive with that.

If this was Homer's idea - it was ballsy as hell, even if I think it made the team worse in the short term.

Seriously, why the hell would they move Stamkos? You don't move guys like that. Even if you managed to get him to sign a 10+ year offersheet at league max - Tampa matches without even blinking. No way Stamkos is going anywhere.
