MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- With the trade of Mike Richards to the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday, the question now becomes who will captain the Flyers this fall?
Sources say, it’s a no-brainer: Chris Pronger, who captained both St. Louis and Anaheim earlier in his career, will be offered the “C.”
General manager Paul Holmgren said given the magnitude of what went down on Thursday, the captaincy never entered his mind.
“That’s a good question,” Holmgren said. “I haven’t even thought of that, really. We have some guys in our locker room, who have been captains in previous years with other teams. Danny Briere, Kimmo Timonen and Chris Pronger. I haven’t even broached subject with Peter Laviolette and my staff.”
And it doesn't matter if Pronger is captain or not. He will tell it like it is no matter what is on his jersey. Although with the good cop captain gone it would be interesting to see the bad cop captain take full control.
I was thinking HOME/AWAY A's
Steeg yes b/c he has won a cup and does play hard.
Agreed. I hope we do keep him. I think there is a lot more behind the Versteeg curtain than has met our eye in a Flyers uniform, with the injury and all. IMO I'd rather give an A to .... damn our team is depleeted ... ok I'll go with that HAHA. IDK Hartnell? maybe JVR?
