Signing Brad Richards would take some of the sour taste out of my mouth.
Getting a first for Versteeg would help too.
Thanks for posting the article, it's very informative. Until word comes out over why Richards HAD to be traded, or why Richards couldn't have been traded and Carter be kept, I'm going to be still very miserable.
I think regardless of the moves, it's deffo an exciting time to be a flyers fan at the moment. Whether that excitment is justified we just wont know. But it's great to have a little un-certainty in the team again. Gives us something to talk about over the Carter + Richards drama these past 5 years
Like I said yesterday, if when the dust settles and we have cleared more cap space/moved up into the the top 3 of the Draft and we get a combo of the following pieces (Richards UFA who I think they'll make a run at, Larsson or Gabe) then I will give this entire fiasco my approval.
Richards would have to be one of those big term, 6.5 salary kind of deals. If we get Richards we are back in cup contention right away, but Brad Richards is a pipe dream and we will see July 1. All I know is that we will be in the Brad Richards dance to some degree or another. He is more realistic than Stamkos or Parise like some think we are going after.
Even if we can't get Brad Richards, if we can still somehow get Adam or Gabe, I will be through the roof.
I am excited to see what else goes down because much more will happen. That much I am certain of. It's just a matter of it my excitement turns into dread if they make some boneheaded moves.
If we can get B. Richards for a reasonable deal (not likely), I would be ecstatic. We'd be right back at contender level and our cupboard would be much better stocked with the latest infusion of youth.
Very good article! I'm excited, disappointed all at the same time. Bottom line is we have a good young hockey team that will be exciting and frustrating to watch at times this year. Changes were needed and we got them! Now we just have to wait for the dust to settle and the season to get here.
