Gaborik is the only one that comes to mind. We have no reason to move Drury for Jovo.

Wouldn't trading Gaborik and signing Richards be a lateral move? I know Richards makes others better around him, but an elite sniper with a solid playmaker seems common sense.

Trading Gaborik would probably prevent us from signing Richards. Why would Richards want to sign here without a sniper like Gabby to pass to?

why wouldn't we have a reason to move Drury for Jovo?
I mean if there was term left on Jovo's contract, that would eb one thing.
But if we get his rights for a week and the benefit of sheeding the last year of Drury's contract is the price to pay, that would be highway robbery for the Rangers.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the 10% summer cap increase doesn't begin until July 1st? So if we were moving Drury to Phoenix, we would need to take a guy like Jovo back (who would simply eat space until July 1st when we could let him walk and bask in the glory of our wonderful cap space).
Jovo + 20 for Drury + 15
Just do it. It gives us oodles of money for the summer.
The Rangers don't need to clear money. The money is there to sign the 5 group IIs and Richards. More money will be available when Drury goes on LTI. Phoenix doesn't need Drury's cap hit to reach the floor. Eklund hasn't linked Jovo to the Rangers in 2 years. He must be recycling material. Maloney isn't taking Wolski back. Saw this last night.

It's not unfathomable that Sather wants to pursue more than just Richards. I don't want that to be true, but moving Drury gives him a lot more breathing room, and room to pursue options in addition to Richards, including trades where we can take back salary.
Yea honestly guys, being able to move Drury or Redden for Jovo would be a GREAT move for us! It automatically frees up a TON of capspace for us and we dont even need to resign Jovo. If Jovo asked for 3m TOPS then i would sign him, and he could be a great added factor to our blueline for a year or two..
Our other option is to just let Jovo go at free agency and have a **** load of capspace to sign Richards, all our RFA's except for Gilroy, and possibly make a deal with our loaded up prospects to gain another top line talent in return. this trade could enable us to make some serious deals for some top line talented players..
