OMG if McGuire was our GM we wouldn't have lost one particular game in the regular season? Big deal.

We were clearly intimidated in the playoffs with a shorthanded club, weren't we?

??? OT game 7 and we were missing Markov and Gorges.

The Flyers had tough guys and went down in 4.

Why is this even a thread? And how is this speculation? Seems more like an individual posters wants.

Draft selections would be very awkward at the podium

I know. I can't believe this hasn't been shut down yet. This is the most pointless thread ever.

Well maybe you two can become mods. Then you would have access to the little button that would allow you to delete this thread.

It's the off season guys, so the mods are being a little more relaxed. If it was busy, believe me, it wouldn't be here.

Here is why Montreal is Pierre's only chance to become a GM:

1) He lives in Montreal and is fluently bilingual
2) He is good friends with Geoff Molson
3) He has close ties and friends in Montreal, the media and within the Habs organization

Besides that, if Gauthier get's fired or resigns in the coming years, I can see McGuire getting a fair shot at becoming the next GM here in Montreal, and love it or hate it, the man knows the players, he knows his hockey and has been mentored by Bob Johnson, Scotty Bowman and Brian Burke in the past.

Discuss!
I dont re-call mcguire having any management experience at any level. He's been a coach at a bunch of levels, buy he's been out of that game for an extensive period too. To hire McGuire as a manager is a very risky route to take.

I like McGuire's enthusiasm for the game, and even though I dont always agree with him, I'm gonna miss him on TSN.

If I had to guess I would say Pierre will still stick around for the important dates. Draft, WJC Tournament, deadline say, FA Frenzy etc..

He suggested that the Habs re-acquire Kovalev at the 2011 trade deadline....need anymore be said?

If Gauthier leaves (based upon his NHL track record as GM, his departure would be welcome by me) I hope the Habs consider Dale Tallon.

He's from Quebec and has proven he can build a Cup winner!

This disturbs me greatly. He would never take BPA, he would draft on need and we would never end up with another Carey Price.

Yuck no thank you. This man has never impressed me with his hockey knowledge. Funny he occupies a similar position as Bob Mckenzie, yet Bob has always been knowledgeable without making himself look stupid. Can't say the same for Pierre.

really? Pierre McGuire just takes more chances, imo. McKenzie says things that are just common sense that almost any of us could come up with. McGuire is more of a hockey mind. Not many in the game like him--which is why every broadcasting outlet wants a piece of him.
