I guess it just seems strange to me because all along I wanted to trade one or both of Carle/Versteeg to make room for Bryz; but that isn't needed anymore. So this would be trading guys so we can replace them with FAs. I guess the question then becomes are there any FAs out there that they feel they can reasonably sign that are better fits? I'm not so sure.
I'm not sure really, but if Versteeg is traded to move up, and Bob is sent out in another deal..

Don't know if Voracek and Simmonds would be quite that cheap, but that's a lot to play with.

You are having a laugh if you think that you are getting simmonds and vora for under 4 million

Can the Flyers even offer sheet Stamkos?

If not mistaken they don't have enough draft picks to even make an offer sheet.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Voracek I could see getting a little over $2m, maybe like $2.5m or something, but has Simmonds ever done anything to deserve $2m? He has 93 points in 240 games and is coming off a season where he regressed and scored 30 points.

It wouldn't be an offersheet. The only way for us to get Stamkos is through a trade.

The Flyers are missing a first over the next 4 years? I thought compensation would be four 1sts?

Larsson would stay in Sweden and we could use him to replace Timonen.

That would be a contending line-up now with an opportunity to compete for years to come.
On what cap hit basis, out of curiosity? What do you have Simmonds/Voracek/Schenn/Richards/Leino at?

Because it's an awesome line up with Larsson in the pipe too

I think the Stamkos thing is complete and utter BS. It was Gargano on WIP saying "wouldn't it be cool if...".

We don't have our first this year. It has to be the team's own picks for an offersheet.

So i see the fan base is now in Defensive mode.

Im not here to debate the merits of our respective GM's. Perhaps you desire one considering recent events ; the need to for an ego trip. I came here to discuss the merits of these rumours from a Florida perspective. If you'd rather go into self denial mode, go for it.

We don't need our 1st this year.

Can't send an offersheet until July 1st...

More like annoyed mode.

Merits:

A) Rumor had it that Florida was interested in Versteeg a couple weeks ago.
B) The Flyers have claimed before that they are interested in moving up in the draft.
C) The Flyers certainly have the assets should they REALLY want to move up in the draft.
D) There was a recent confirmation, though quickly retracted, that Versteeg had already been moved to Florida.

We don't need this years pick seeing as the draft will have come and gone when Stamkos could be signed to an offer sheet.

Are we missing next years first and onward, though?

It's moot cause I don't think for a second it would even be close to happening.

This year's first is irrelevant, they can't sign the offer sheet until July 1st anyway. So it would start with 2012's 1st

I know I said that when I first mentioned, and then I said I agreed, it would definitely be cool if... but I don't see it happening.

I don't know if these rumors started from him or if someone in the organization was thinking the same thing. I just can't see it though. That would be a Lindros type deal really. He's a top 5 player in the league.

Versteeg and the 8 is not enough to get into the top 3.

i would LOL@ the entire Leafs fanbase if we got Luke Schenn for that rumored deal.

It all depends and what kind of conversations they are having.

Say they feel Ryan Murphy is the guy. Do they reach for him at 3 or do the trade back and trade to acquire an asset or 2? You trade back, pick up the asset, then draft your guy.
Except i have never disguised myself as a prophet from Florida management. I have simply expressed my own view. As i am sure you have done here many times, and im pretty sure you don't get the response everytime "Well yeah, but you aren't management or the GM!".

As for who is our guy? It's widely known that Tallon wants RNH. It seems unlikely that will happen. It's pretty clear that Florida is going Forward this year. Larsson, Murphy and Hamilton do not seem to be on the radar. Landeskog and Jonathan Hub seem the most likely candidates at 3, whilst SC has been also rumoured. Again i don't claim to know which player is more likely, but i'd be very confident that we are not targetting a D with our 1st pick.

One of these better happen, or else

Exactly. So why the need to them go into Defensive mode regarding our respective GM's? I know Tallon has faults, and i have my own opinion on your GM (I like the Carter trade from a Flyers perspective). But i have absolutely no interest in discussing these topics.

I've also never discredit the rumours that Versteeg has been linked with Florida. I do not doubt Tallon would like to acquire him, much like with Skille. I just think it's an awful trade from a Florida perspective.

The sad part is they probably are interested in Versteeg...
