Right now, I want to win. And we are better with Campbell than without him
This.
We are completely different team when 1 of Toews, Bolland, and Campbell are out. Big cap hit or not, he is an extremely important piece of our team's dynamic.

We don't have a legitimate puck-moving defensemen other than Campbell. I remember how well he played for us last year and how his early return from that dirty Ovechkin hit sparked the team in the Nashville series.

I think Leddy could fit that mold eventually, and I think Keith is capable of moving the puck sufficiently, but I understand the premise of what you are saying.

Keith? Leddy? Hell even Seabrook. We're not short on puck movers.

Campbell is the best puckmover of the four. That alone should tell you how good he really is.
It sucks that he carries a $7.1M pricetag but this team is much better with him than with a cheaper replacement.

I'm not disagreeing with that, but Campbell is not the only person who can fill that role.

This, not that I don't believe it. IMO the cap increase pretty much sealed the deal to keep Sharp in the indianhead for a few more years.

This morning Pierre LeBrun from ESPN tweeted “Hawks confident they can hammer out an extension this summer for Sharp
Apparantly Bowman/Sharp's agent meet up in Minny and plan to meet again this summer to further discuss Sharp

I'd like to have it done. I don't want to see Sharpie distracted during the year. Maybe he wouldn't be, but some players get distracted when they know that once the season they are playing in is over, they have no contract.
