He almost sounds relieved that he's leaving. But when he started talking about Carter you could tell he was getting upset. They did a good job of keeping the interview fun.

**** you Homer and Snider in no particular order.

The Philadelphia Flyers just sent a huge message. You are not bigger than the team. You are adults now, its time to quit the freaking stag parties, the petulant press conferences, and the underwhelming results. You listen to the coach. You follow his system. You don't? Get the **** out.
Mike and Jeff just got a huge wake-up call

What is underwhelming about either of their performances?

Carter just put up 36 goals. Richards just played 82 games and 2 playoff series with a wrist that apparently needed surgery long ago, and he put up decent numbers despite that with crap wingers.

Pretty much. As much as I love Mike Richards, I cant argue with that mentality. His act with the media made the whole organization look bad. His interviews were downright embarrassing at times.

As opposed to Pronger, who openly berates reporters?

Pronger berates Timmeh P. That's hardly the same.

Pronger will have no problem being Captain. Heck, he pretty much has been since last season.

That whole puck thing in the SCF was solely to get attention off Richie and take the pressure off the young guys.

it is nice to finally see the organization get rid of the locker room problems rather than the coach this time around. shocked to hear Lappy say the team got better because of these moves.

More like so he could have the spotlight on himself. Look at me, I'm Chris Pronger, I just stole the puck!

Ah, so it's OK when Pronger does it, but the ultimate divisive evil when Richards does? (did)

That's not what I mean.

Richards wasn't "personable" as captain.

Pronger knows what to say. He answers questions. He jokes around. Richards didnt answer questions well and obviously the behind the scenes stuff was a major factor.

Obviously management felt Schenn and Simmonds were worth more to them then Richie. That's all you need to know about the locker room and leadership of this team.

some of the people's responses on here are understandably upset, but even after all of this and the team trading its two core players, they refuse to ever believe they had any wrong doing in their removal from the hockey club. and they're taking it to levels as if they were personally dumped by them in a bad relationship or pretending that having a one night stand with Carter would actually lead to something and then crying when he kicks you out of his bed

Carter trade I was hoping would happen, the Richards trade still has me confused/upset but he's been criticized for a while now about how he carried himself as captain based off of only what fans were able to see, imagine what we never saw and will never actually get to know, frankly those in charge were sick and tired of it. I would have rather him been stripped of the "C" and go from there, but maybe they also felt he wasn't going to respond to that well either?

Seriously... I had no issue at all with how he treated the media. They're all hack journalists here in Philly looking to make controversy any way they can. He had every right to treat them the way he did.

Do you expect him to say anything else though. He is going to work for the organization soon enough.

He was once considered one of the best captains in the league by Pierre Mcguire and I trust that guys judgement on most things hockey, even though he is a weirdo. Just cause he couldn't get along with Lavy and it divided the locker room doesn't mean he has an act to clean up.
