Once again, I am closing the night of the draft, so I won't be home till around 2 AM. Last year, I had it taped and was excited to get home and watch, but the preview of a text from a friend said "hahahah", so I was extremely skeptical when Fowler and Gormley were on the board at the Rangers pick.
I plan on turning my cellphone off completely this time.

I wish I knew more about the players.. I'm always clueless at draft time.. I wish I had more time to watch juniors.

I too will be working but my job is pretty mindless so I have to pass the time some how. Hello HF and twitter.
I think this draft might be a bit more exciting than previous years due to the lack of depth.

Just google some mock drafts and read up on them for an hour. You will be much better off.

For the folks who are late to the party, check out the other threads to get full details on some of the players being discussed, but here are the names being thrown around by posters:
Mark Scheifele / Barrie Colts / OHL / Center
Mark McNeil / PA Raiders / WHL / Center
Tyler Biggs / USNTDP (Miami-OH Commit) / RW
J.T. Miller / USNTDP (UND Commit) / F
Sven Bartschi / Portland Winterhawks / WHL / RW
Alexander Khoklachev / Windsor Spits / OHL / C
Joel Armia / Assat / SM-Liga (Finland) / RW
Matt Puempel / Peterborough Petes / OHL / LW
Rocco Grimaldi / USNTDP / USHL / C
Nicklas Jensen / Oshawa Generals / OHL / LW|RW
These are the guys who could realistically be available when we pick at #15.

Some would, but not all.
As a general rule, "weak" drafts still have a bit of talent. It's just usually involves more gambling. I've also seen "strong" drafts that produce less than expected. For most in this generation, 2003 will be the benchmark draft.

Likely wont be able to watch until around 9...
We'll probably have picked by then and the site will be down, but i'll say this beforehand...
Everyone where we are at is a project. Its like a very late 1st/2nd in most other drafts. I'll be content with
McNeil
Bartschi
Biggs
Puempel
Zibanejad
Armia
Grimaldi
amongst others. I definately do not want
Rattie
Saad
Oleksiak
But as far as I am concerned, we already got our top new prospect this year, and his name is Tim Erixon.

I hope we do trade down and get this guy. He's going to be a stud.

For everyone who has never gone through this before, try not to post every 3 seconds on this site or the site will crash. Posts like:
"****" or "awesome" just bog everything down. Try to keep that in mind tonight.

I was thinking that maybe next year we should have an internet draft show, but I am not quite sure how to do it. Would anyone be interested in HF doing a Rangers' draft show during the first round?

If Zibanejad is available at 15, we have to take him. Guys gonna be a stud. Cant see him getting past Winnipeg at 7 though.

I really don't know why, but I have a feeling Bartschi will drop. I'd love to take him.

I've mentioned it before but I'd definitely recommend everyone use HF chat tonight since the site will probably crash at some point.

It's not so much the posting as it is the sheer number of connections to the database -- i.e. number of users on the site.
But yes, please try to keep the useless posts to a minimum.

I think the three most important factors in seeing who we might get are:
1) Colorado's second overall pick. If they pick Larsson, they'll go for a forward at 11. If they pick a forward second overall, they'll go for a defensemen at 11.
2) Minnesota. Do they go forward or defensemen? If they go defense, the forwards will all push back by a spot. If they go forward, the Rangers get one less to chose from
3) Carolina. They rarely pick a defensemen in the first round. Why would they all of the sudden change their philosophy?
