Warrener said that he first spoke to the Calgary defenseman about Buffalo when he came to the special ceremony Pegula had arranged for the Sabres' alumni and said he should consider coming to Buffalo at some point. When the trade was proposed, Regehr texted Warrener for advice and the former Sabre said he should accept the trade because it would be a "perfect fit" for both the player and the team. "You wait man...the next 4-5 years This team is gonna be one of the best in the league." Warrener praised Regehr's game saying that he has a "cannon" for a shot and would help solidify the Sabres' blue line.

Regehr texted Warrener “Call me I need to talk to you about Buffalo.” He also said Regehr is the type of player the fans in Buffalo would love and thinks a trade could really “rejuvenate” his career. Brings a lot of leadership, Myers & others would learn a lot from him.

Sounds like he really doesn't want to and wants to explore other options. But thats why players ask for NMC's, so they can do this. Regehr has done enough for this franchise that I respect his decision.

I wonder if we'll ever know what the package was.

Unfortunate. I don't like it, but he earned that NMC.

I know Darcy won't say what it was. I think Regehr is going to regret the decision (at least on the ice) because he's certainly going to be moved now and he's exactly what the Sabres needed.

Well there is no way the Ryan Smyth trade can really go down now, the Flames wouldn't be able to field a hockey team.

These NTC's should be banned so guys like Regehr and Heatley don't get to dictate where they play. If it wasn't for the NHL they wouldn't be playing pro hockey, least not here.

Well it's his right to do so....could be of benefit to CGY if this means they're out of the Smyth running.

I don't see how the other players on the Flames roster factor into this. Regehr deserves his NMC, and it's his choice to use it.

Wow that's not cool. Sabres are a playoff team with a great owner who is going to spend money and try to get to the next level. Seems like a great place to play.

HUUUUUGE difference between Heatley and Regehr dude. Don't even compare. Heatley asked for a trade, and then used his NTC to dictate the SINGULAR team he would accept a trade to. Regehr did not asked to be traded, and exercised his NMC since he didn't want to go to Buffalo (one single team, as far as we are aware). The Flames knew exactly what they were getting themselves into when they gave Regehr a NMC. The Sens got *****. There is a difference.

Yeah, but it's 3,000+ miles from where he calls home and I can't blame him for that reason alone.
