ESPN Hockey (Oilers Slant)

Hey Oil fans. I noticed there was a post about NHL 2004, so I thought I'd post this one too (equal opportunity & all). I'm sure there are a few of you who own this game as well.

Anyhow, I also have another reason for posting this. I have been touching up my rosters for this game, and have been making some Oilers prospects, etc.. - here are the overalls I have for the Oilers players thus far and overall totals (in order from best to worst):

(Note: Keep in mind that pretty much everything is taken into account in these overalls in this game. Offense, defense, puck skills, intangibles, etc..)

Ryan Smyth - 88
Eric Brewer - 88
Mike York - 86
Mike Comrie - 85
Jason Smith - 84
Radek Dvorak - 83
Ales Hemsky - 81
Steve Staios - 80
Sean Horcoff - 79
Alexei Semenov - 78
Marty Reasoner - 78
Georges Laraque - 78
Brad Isbister - 78
Raffi Torres - 77
Jason Chimera - 77 (99 speed!)
Marc-Andre Bergeron - 76
Jesse Niinimaki - 75 (Created player)
Jani Rita - 75
Marc-Andre Pouliot - 74 (Created player)
Fernando Pisani - 73
Scott Ferguson - 71
Tony Salmelainen - 70
Rocky Thompson - 70
Bobby Allen - 70

Tommy Salo - 85
Ty Conklin - 75

As you can see, I haven't created all the players and completely finished editing the players. What would your suggestions be to change some overalls there (ie: One player may be better, but lower rated), and what overalls would you guys suggest for some of the players I haven't got listed there (such as Mikko Luoma)?

you probably need to change Pouliot's first name to Marc-Antoine.

Luoma's speed isn't as good, he's strong though, and he can be physical - he usually finishes his checks. Defensively I think he's gonna be pretty good as he was pretty decent taking into consideration he's played on the big ice surface his whole life. Decent low shot, moves the puck well...... umm....... anybody else?

looks good, although I think Pouliot should be higher than Niinimaki, IMO. and it's Shawn, not Sean Horcoff.

Are you the same Mizral who experiments with the goalie tributes (ex, reduce lateral movement by 15)?

If so, bravo.

Hopefully Niinimaki's and Pouliot's totals are so high because of high potential. Otherwise I wouldn't rate them that high - if they _were_ that good, they'd be in the NHL right now, or at least, Pouliot would be.

Yes, the stat 'Star Power' essentially is potential, which gives them a higher rating, but they really play no better than 71 - 73 type guys.

I made Mikko Luoma as a 71 overall, and Deslauriers as a 74 overall.

And yes, I'm the same Mizral from the Thunderpuck forums.
