No, you can't play in the AHL before the age of 20 if you're property of a CHL team

How far away from NHL ready is he?

Obviously not this season?

Unbelievable!!!! Couturier was at one time in consideration for first overall and only slipped due to a mid season injury. Even then, scouts were looking for just the tiniest of things with the guy. What a heck of a pick. I'll call it right now - this guy is going to be disgustingly good.

I'm still pumped. I'd hoped we could somehow grab this guy for awhile now.

Hopefully they go defense with the next pick, maybe trade up and try to grab a guy like Scott Mayfield. Another big right handed defenseman.

Cool, I'm excited from what I've seen so far. I feel like the Flyers disregarded an obvious need for D prospects and chose based on BPA.

we still have other draft picks to pick some defensemen..not sure how well bourdon and marshall are progressing in the AHL tho.

defense prospects:
gustafsson
bourdon
bartulis
marshall
bodrov
Lehtivuori
Manning

http://www.hockeysfuture.com/teams/philadelphia_flyers

but either way im very happy with the pick.

Interesting. Gagne slipped in the draft and a broken finger was cited as a cause. IIRC, the Flyers had him as high as 10th on the draft board that year.

Also considering he could easily be a replacement for Carter in a a year or two (not immediately, but by the time his prime comes around) I would go for it. We currently DON'T need a huge defensive prospect, and I think we should save that for the 2012 draft, especially since it's supposed to be a better draft to get a d-man.

Wow...I really like our future now. Really do. The other Atlantic divison fans are kinda pissed at our turnaround.

Only on HFBoards is trading two, two-way thirty goal scorers off of a very successful team, for value that is primarily prospects and picks considered a turn around.
