Should we consider Regehr?

Could be our missing piece for defensive play, if we are going to take Lidström out from the penalty kill.

What do you think? We have a lot of capspace...

But what would we have to give up? We'd have to acquire him through a trade and I don't know what Buffalo are offering. I wouldn't mind having someone like Regehr on our blueline.

He's more of a defensive defenseman. $4mm is a lot to pay for a defensive defenseman. I do love his play but the combination of assets + salary make it a tough pill to swallow. Otherwise he'd be a great fit.

I'd pay $4 million for Regehr. It's probably a bit too much but Stuart at $3.75 million makes sense.

So you going to replace Rafalski with the most defensive defenseman out there (sort of) Don't know if that's the best idea

Yes, similar pay but we already have Stuart. We don't need two Stuarts for $8mm in cap space. If Stuart was an UFA then I could see making the move. We've got Stuart for at least one more season though.

Our own prospects are puckmovin defencemen, but there's none defensive guys coming. So why not?

We don't have to replace Rafalski one by one. Our weaknesses have been in defensive play and penalty kill.

It seems like there is a deal in place to send Regehr to Buffalo. I'm not sure what we are considering.

Why make a trade when they have money to get someone as good or better in free agency without having to give up anything? I don't think they'll make a trade until they see what they can get first.

Would that make Montador available? I wouldn't mind the red wings picking him up

A good trade option...
but at the moment my preference would be to see what we can do on July 1st and sign someone without giving up any assets...

also not sure what Calgary is asking for or what Buffalo offered...

Love his game, but he's getting a little long in the tooth, which is a concern for anyone who plays that style (and makes that much money).

Robyn Regehr has agreed to waive his no-move and will accept trade to Buffalo. Kotalik involved as well.
