I really think your wrong on this. I really think Tim is going to be a huge improvement this year. The kids not stupid, he knows he's going to have to impress this year if he has any shot on staying on any teams nhl roster. No one here can argue the guys skills, Just watching what he can do with the puck during games some times you can tell the talent is there. He got rushed into the nhl as an 18 year old which obviously didnt help in his devolopment but he's still only played 4 seasons and with teams that were not that good themselves.

The guy might not be tough but up untill the concussion he played pretty much every game of the season in every year he's been in the nhl

I definitly think he is an upgrade to Kotalik and I cant think of a better center on our team do get Vanek the puck.

Connolly : 99'00 (Islanders) 81 games, 14g 20a 34p
00'01 (Islanders) 82 games, 10g 31a 41p
01'02 (Sabres) 82games, 10g 35a 45p
02'03 (Sabres) 80 games, 12g 13a 25p

Kotalik: 02'03 (Sabres) 68games 21g 14a 35p
(Sabres) 62 games 15g 11a 26p

Tim has imroved every year in teh nhl excluding that 02-03 year when everyone on the team was terrible!! Plays 80 games a year hand still has tons of upside.

Ales had a worse season after his first, getting in Lindy's doghouse a number of times and the pouting about it. I think the guy jas an amazing snap shot coming in off the wing but I really believe teams have cought onto it after his rookie year and therefore has downgrade in point production.

Just my opinion

Here is how I would start the season with lineups.

Hecht - Briere - Dumont: they had some chemistry 2 seasons ago, if they can maintain it no reason to break it up.

Vanek - Connolly - Mair/Grier : Vanek needs somebody to pass it to him and we need to see if Connolly is ever going to pan out. Unless we give Connolly some talent to play with and ice time we will not find out. Mair/Grier to give the line some more grit and defensive concsious.

Kotalik-Drury-Afinogenov: I know putting Drury on 3rd line sounds bad but unless we move Drury to one of the other line's wings... sides we'll be giving Drury extra ice time in the PK so he may not mind 3rd line duty if it gives Vanek a good passer.
otherwise switch Drury and Connolly and maybe even Mair/Grier for Afinogenov.

Roy centering Pyatt, Grier, Mair, Peters or Bartovic.

I also would think about giving Pominville a shot. I am not sure if skills at the AHL level will translate to the NHL but we should at least give him a shot.

on defense

Kalinin-Numminen
Tallinder-Lydman
Mckee-Jillson

I may switch Mckee and Kalinin so that a physical presence is spread out a bit more.
Kalinin should be more physical and Numminen is not. Jillson used to be physical (in prep school) I don't know how that is working out at this level.

Goal Miller/Noronen: trade Biron and his biggish salary.
