nice low risk move. the kid always stated that he wants to play in NA...columbus just ruined him. i'm curious whta murray has to say about him, maybe he already had a talk with him and his agent.

I have a feeling MacLean had A LOT to do with bringing in Filatov

.....now it's up to Gonchar to light a fire under the kid's ass (a la Malkin)

Would love to get a stud RW in one of the next 3 drafts, but still that lineup has potential
That looks awesome. Murray rebuilt our forward group in two days just like that.

Get Gonchar to phone the kid up and tell him to hop onto a plane and get over here.

He'll be given plenty of opportunities to succeed in Ottawa. Columbus was running out of patience and it was clear he needed a change of scenery. If he works out this would have been a great move. If not, it's only a 3rd rounder.

I am a big fan of this deal.

Hope it works out. Not a huge deal if it doesn't given we landed Z, Noesen, Puempel and Prince before the 66th.

But you gotta wonder why Columbus parted with him. Ottawa's scouting of other teams' assets (apart from Anderson) hasn't been overly fantastic.

But hopefully a Detroit coach and the presence of Gonchar helps him out.

We already aquired five potential top-six forwards. Murray really fills the prospect pool. Filatov was in talk for the first overall pick two years ago. If he pans out he is an unbelievable steal.

Filatov is the softest player on our team in any league - AHL/OHL/KHL/Sweden.

He should of been a figure skater. I predict Alex Daigle type of prodcution from him, Maclean will design some break out plays to match his speed, but Filatov won't finish them or reach for pucks in front of a big Dman, so he'll flaot aorund the ice waiting for the puck - not initiating and then we'll get sick of him, and he'll sign in the KHL.

If he ever plays with anger or a drive to be a legit pro and not just a scorer, he could be a nice 2nd line winger, but he's so soft I don;t see him amounting to much

Filatov for 3rd? That's a huge steal.

He'll play as soon as this year in the AHL.

Still on entry level contract, so if he's with the big club, cap hit is $2.1 million.

what's funny about watching a cup finalist fall down into a lottery team picking up players like Randy Robitialle to be top six talent?

I don't think that is fun to watch.

At least now since we hit rock bottom BM can do the one thing he is good at before another GM comes in and finishes the job

They did pretty well with Rundblad too I would say.

Just adding a few more that have the skill to play top 6 if they pan out.
