Rather have the depth at the NHL level next year but I'll trust the staff

And, last year, people were complaining in the same manner about Sanguinetti, which produced Jesper Fasth and the asset to acquire Tim Erixon...love adding skilled centers with size.

To be honest if it was a battle between Hagelin and Grachev I would think Hagelin has the edge at making the team because he is a two way player

sucks to give up on Grachev. The Sangs trade was similar and that looks pretty good right now. So time will tell

Russians are just on the down slide. Filatov got a 3rd too

Very weird, bad trade for the Rangers. I wonder if the Blues wanted Grachev to lure Tarasenko

I was high on Grachev, but they obviously think he has stalled.

Wouldve been nice to pick up a second or third for next years draft or something as well. Eh.

Gordie was probably high on this guy and trading Grachev isn't that big of a disappointment. He was a 3rd round pick and we got a 3rd round pick in return for him. It was pretty clear they believe they mismanaged him and needed to get something now for him before his stock falls further.

Yep Fogarty is committed to Notre Dame

Quote:
Irish head coach Jeff Jackson on Fogarty: "Steven is a smart, offensive player who has excellent instincts with and without the puck. He has shown strong scoring skills at the high school level. He has excellent character and leadership ability and I think he can be an impact player at Notre Dame after spending a year in junior hockey (Chicago Steel - USHL)."

USHL next season and Notre Dame in 12-13

I remember this board being up in arms when we traded Bourret for a third round pick (used on Kundratek)

I will give the Rangers credit, they seem to know when a prospect isn't working out, and know when to cut bait. Look at Sanguenetti last year.

First, don't any of you kid yourselves. The team knows all the info about Grachev. If they dealt him there's a reason. We may not know it, and we may never know it. But the team does. Whether he's lazy, has no hockey sense, or is a serial killer, you're not going to get the whole story. They have it.

Second, this team finally, after soooo many years, appears to be following a direction. They place heavy emphasis on players who work hard. Players who obsess about the game and coming to the rink, and giving it their all when they get there. If a guy doesn't fit that mold, then we get him out and bring in someone who does. Bravo. A move like this may not make sense on paper, but the games aren't played on paper. This is a lesson in chemistry. You bring in similar guys who follow the overall image of the team that you want.

Third, am I the only one who has no idea what "drinking from the firehose" is supposed to mean?

Michael Barnett covers the USHL and US high school areas for the Rangers. He took a chance on another Minnesota kid Blake Wheeler. That was a good pick

People wanted a player who was high risk/high potential. This kid is exactly that with a GREAT work ethic and good side.

I'm disappointed. I thought there was still promise for Grachev...but obviously Gordie & Gorton thought really highly of Forgarty.

Oy. This is going to come back to bite us, I'm positive.

Couldn't at least get another asset for him? Doesn't strike me as a Sather special.

I have to agree. Clarke has done well drafting very young kids like this. Kreider was one. They must have soured on Grachev. Have to trust that they know better. At least watching this day 2 draft show was not a total waste of time.

just a quick second between golf games to have a look see and wow. grachev moved

i must say, i was not a fan. been saying it for a long time, and im a huge russian homer guy as you all know but ev never impressed me when i eatched his game in person.

biggest problem, grachev had no hockey sense. none. and when they moved him to center last year i said this guy is floundering.

cant say im surprised. another case of hanging on to a guy too long.

not sure about this fogarty kid other than to say i have heard his name mentioned before.
