Interesting pick. I'm thinking they'll leave him in the SEL for one more year and then bring him over to Hamilton.

I don't understand overage picks. Why couldn't we just sign him?

Well, 15 points in 21 gammes in the SEL is really good. Not to mention we could see him in north America right away.

this way we can hold his rights without giving him a contract. also don't have to use up one of our contracts on him. also don't need to compete with 29 other clubs in trying to sign someone.

most habs fans didn't like the Mark Streit pick either at the time, but it worked out O.K.

U got a real wild card here. Almost totally unknown until he last season joined Färjestad mid-season (previously on loan at minor clubs) where he scored 15 points in 22 games. Followed it up with 10 points in 14 games in the playoffs.

PowerPlay specialist with a haaard shot. 99% of the pucks hits the goal. Plays with a huge heart for his team. Not afraid of getting involved in scrums when backing up teammates.

Won SEL-gold together with Jonas Brodin and Oscar Klefbom that got drafted yesterday.

I like this pick. If you want a steal in the late rounds draft a Swede.

"Led all D-men in playoff scoring with 10 pts in 14 games ahead of highly prospects as Rundblad and Erixon. An old Red Line's favorite."

There we go. Appreciate it. Timmins probably was scared another team drafted him and he would not be able to sign him at the end of the draft so having two 4'ths he just went for it

From a Swedish poster on HF (cheerupmurray), posted a few months ago;
Quote:
I really think it's time for NHL-teams to take a look at this 20-year old defenseman. He has been on fire for his Sel-team since he was called up from sel-2. 15 points in 22 sel-games and 6 points so far in 6 playoff-games. He is the biggest reason that Färjestad suddenly have a good pp. He still got a lot to learn defensively but his offensive qualities is undeniable. I don't know if it's still possible to draft this kid, since he is born 1990 though, but a 20-year old d-man that have been almost 1 ppg as of late in a lowscoring league like SEL deserves attention.

Nygren is in this vid alot. #32, often shooting from the bluelines.

I like this pick, but his age is a concern.

I read somewhere that Red Line used to be high on the kid before but he was never picked.

from elite prospect

A skilled and mobile defenseman that shoots right. Is a power play specialist with a very good release, good passing game and above average hockey sense. Handles the puck with confidence and usually puts up good numbers. Is fairly good defensively, although there is some room for improvement.

6'1" 192lbs

Look like a very Detroit ish pick, I like that !
