You've called them taking this Place Holder kid in every round. Maybe this will be the round they get him.

Nevermind the 2012 or 13 commit, he's making the jump to Wisconsin this fall.

Only draftee to have no zero point games.

Fascinating stats: 14 GP, 29 Goals, 23 Assist, 52 points, and 40 PIM.

Bakes has a tidbit that he not only scored a point in all of his games, he multi-pointed in all of his games.

CS: I'm sure the Wisconsin fans want to know a little bit more about your game. They can see the stats you've put up at the high school level and with Team Wisconsin. Can you describe your game a little bit and what you think you can bring to the table when you get to Wisconsin?

Navin: I'm 6'2.5" so I would have to say I have size and strength in my advantage over many player, I have been told by many people that I have a high caliber shot. I've been a goal scorer a long with a play maker. I believe I have good vision on the ice to find the open man and to make plays. Coming to Wisconsin I think I can bring my size and my ability to score to the team.
noalibisnoregrets: Interview with Navin

Quote:
Wisconsin recruit Brad Navin was a kid that kind of dropped off the radar when he decided to play Wisconsin high school hockey this season. Again, it's tough to judge him in this setting. At his size, he'll likely make his living right in front of the net on the power play, but as Team WI's top forward, he was out on the perimeter helping quarterback the power play. Like Wittchow, there is potential there, but it will depend on if a team is willing to make that big of a gamble.

As a big Badger fan, I love this pick. No downside here.

He'll continue to develop his size, strength, and skating and he'll pick up a good two way game under Mike Eaves and the Wisconsin program. Wisconsin develops lots of good young players, Pavelski (7th round), Gilbert (5th round), Dowell (5th round), to name only a few of Eaves' players.

Edito: And it's guys like these where CSS had him so low at 163 (where BCB had him much higher, near 99), that I can't help but think that our scouting department saw something CSS didn't see or that we thought CSS crapped on him too hard for not playing at a higher level. Could he be a steal?

Is that confirmed? HF has him as a 2012 commit (http://www.hockeysfuture.com/article...mmitment_list/)

I'm a big fan of taking NCAA-bound developmental guys and overagers in the late rounds so... check and check.

Wisconsin men's hockey head coach Mike Eaves announced the signing of four student-athletes to national letters of intent during the spring signing period. The signees include forwards Joseph LaBate (Eagan, Minn.) and Brad Navin (Waupaca, Wis.) as well as defensemen Patrick Daly (Victoria, Minn.) and Jake McCabe (Eau Claire, Wis.). All will join the Badgers for the fall of 2011.

...

Navin, a 6-2 and 195-pound forward, will arrive in Madison after his Waupaca High School career ends this spring. Ranked 163rd in NHL Central Scouting's Final North American Rankings, Navin led all Wisconsin high school skaters in scoring as a junior with 53 goals and 92 points in 25 games played and posted 29 goals and 52 points in 14 games as a senior before an injury derailed hopes for a repeat scoring title. Navin still earned Wisconsin Hockey Coaches Association First-Team All-State honors for the second consecutive year. In addition to his time playing for Waupaca High School, Navin boasts time playing for Team Wisconsin.

A left-handed shot, the Waupaca, Wis., native hails from the same hometown as 2010-11 Badger senior defenseman Craig Johnson.

Eaves on Navin: "Brad Navin is a prototypical power forward. He's 6-2 and skates really well for a big man. He also shoots the puck a ton. He likes to go into the corner and get to hard areas, so he'll bring that type of game to our lineup."

Holy crap. I've watched some high school hockey, but I've never seen someone score like that. It would be awesome if he works out for us eventually.
