Plekanec - Eller - Desharnais - White (or Engqvist)
Than this: Plekanec - Gomez - Eller - Desharnais

Overall though, it would help us in the long run, so I'd still do the trade.
honestly, a guy like Dominic Moore could replace Gomez. Hell, Eric Belanger could do no worse and 6M cheaper. Is Radek Bonk still around?

I can't believe somebody Would say something like that, even worse a week before the free agent frenzy..
Yeah you kind of took the words right out of my mouth

Now people are looking to DEFENd getting rid of gomez??...its not about "what do we replace the 7 million with"

were talking about 40 million over the next FOUR years that can be liberated, we can not spend a DIME of that 7 million on july 1st and thruout the year if we somehow do trade him and alrdy it helps the team tremendously financialy and dare i say roster wise

has everyone forgotten how great DD played in the playoffs before the injury? , you give this kid more time and he can be the next st-louis. I dont see Eller regressing either, kids 20 freaking 1

worst comes to worst u spend 3-4 mill on a 2nd line B center to wait for someone to be rdy in the org / future trade

That title, your giving all Islanders hope, there has to be a way out of that contract without making it worst and adding a terrible Vinny one, the future is more about guys like Pax.

Lemme guess, you failed rudimentary mathematics?

7,5 + 5,5 + 4,5 = 17,5

That's the actual salary he will take for his 3 remaining seasons, not 4.

7,3 x 3 = 21,9

That's the cap hit he'll take on the team for all three seasons.

You're level of exageration reminds me of my ex.

DD had a 0,50 PPG average playing against weaker opposition than Gomez was. He had defensive problems playing against weaker opposition than Gomez had. He did get better defensively, but he's far from ready to replace Gomez.

Hahahahaha nice one Ozymandias! I wanted to quote him, because I do agree with his overall post, but the math fail was too much. Makes me think... he must've wrote that on purpose.

Ozy is correct, the Cap hit is equal all the way to the grave, many people think were getting a break later, it's not true.

DD also never had Patches or Gionta as wingers, they nullify each other.

no but if an under the cap floor team should trade for him , theyd welcome the high cap hit, and the fact his ACTUAL salary goes down later on

its almost a no brainer for pheonix rly, i hope it happens.

So that's everything there is to know about comparing players? Their stats last year?

Of course it's not. And you know it very well.

But you still come up with that. Why?

Not really. I just find it highly hilarious all the people posting here, as they always seem to have a grand opinion of things, yet a lot of them just don't take the time to inform themselves.

Get a teacher lol

Ozy insults somebody in every one of his posts, the only question is are you smart enough to recognize the insult while you are reading it.

Most people here aren't.

I would like to see Maxime Talbot replace Gomez if we are indeed lucky enough to trade him.
