Very, very happy that Anisimov wasn't apart of some trade for picks or something equally awful. This team's looking more and more like Cally-clones with each passing day.
I hate Drury more than ever. Guy suffers a career ending injury and still wont retire. What a d-bag. Thanks alot ******* for absolutely nothing and for being dead weight on pur cap the past 4 yrs. Hope this doesnt ruin your summer.
Consider me the founding member of the Drury Haters club.
Chad Johnson spent 40 days on the NHL roster in 10-11. For the $525,000 NHL minimum, that's a $112,903 summer cap charge for a goalie who will not be on the NHL roster and will battle 3 other goalies for time in the AHL. Makes no sense to bring back Johnson.

On qualifying offers: “We’ve made qualifying offers. All the players that are free agents within the organization that we want to keep, we’ve made the offers to. We sent those out last week.”
Even John Mitchell isn't worth re-signing. 126 days on the Leafs roster. He had a 1 way last season for $725,000. His QO is $761,250. It can be a 2 way. If he agreed to $525,000 in a 2 way for more AHL money, his summer cap hit is $355,645. $525,000 one way is $525,000 against summer cap.
Gilroy sucks terpentine. He'll be 27 years old July 20th. Hasn't accomplished squat-diddley at the NHL level and he wants more than 2 million? Thank god he's gone!!!
Hugh Grachev has zero hockey sense, he's easily over-whelmed and confused, can't read the play if his life depended on it and his skills are highly over-rated. He never showed even the slightest ability to handle a puck. Guy looked like he had hoofs for hands.
Maybe he'll suddenly become a skilled player for JD
So far, so good. But Sather still has some work to do in ridding this team of that garbage called Christensen.

Really? I think the real garbage he needs to get rid of would be Drury and his 7 million dollar cap hit and Redden and his 6.5 million dollar cap hit, if EC and his $925,000 contract really hamper us this summer than Sather needs to get a new pair of glasses because EC is small peanuts and would serve as a fine extra forward.
You don't have to like EC, but plain and simple, NO EC means no playoffs this season as he accounted for at least 3-4 points himself by scoring game winning shootout goals.
Thursday is the deadline for buyouts. We'll find out more about Drury during the week.
The fact that Sather won't talk about it gives me some hope that there is some back door negotiating going on. If Drury can't play as he claims I was all for him working with this team in some capacity, maybe in the front office, maybe he runs the penalty kill in practice and works on faceoffs with the guys. Sather is too smart to not counter Drury with saying, allow us to buy you out and give you a position where you will earn the money you are losing and then some. Giving him some more money so we can get his cap hit off the books should not even be an issue, because Sather won't say anything I truly believe there is something brewing.
crossing fingers Don Maloney will take Drury off our hands just for the sole purpose of taking up cap space.
At this point if Drury won't accept a buyout, I would be willing to ship a 2nd round pick with Drury for future consideration for someone to take him off our hands, just a matter of if Drury exercises his NMC.
We better not give Richards a NMC, no trade is fine, but not a NMC.
Disappointing to hear that about Grachev, but at least the trade makes some sense now. No grudges. Still like him as a player and hope he does well in St. Louis.

Yeah, EC scored a goal on March 15th and didn't score another goal the rest of the way (11 games) down the stretch. And the only goal he scored in the Playoffs, was a game that Dubinsky scored the Game Winning goal for the Rangers.
Drury and Redden are so obvious. You really think they need to be mentioned?
Year after year I watch the kind of depth players that truely help a team get over the hump and move forward. Then there's EC. maybe if EC didn't spend a majority of the season playing like a wuzzy with his head firmly implanted in his rectum; then maybe this team would have actually been a better team.

Christensen is a waste.
Yeah I was at the playoff game bud, if he didn't score that PP goal we don't win that game. This team deserved better but some bad breaks in the first game and the fact they fell asleep at the wheel in game 4 cost them dearly as we all know.
EC is not the real problem, if he is the real problem holding us back then we have some issues as an organization. He is a 13th or 14th forward who can fill in when there is an injury... complaining about him as if he stops us from making noise down the stretch and the playoffs is the real waste.

For the last time, not happening unless Rangers throw in a significant asset. Maloney is planning to spend every cent he can on assets who can help this year.

Agreed.
They need to be competitive now if the team has a future in PHX.
In order to do that they need as much available money as they can have on their available budget to spend on quality pieces.
They aren't going to waste money being a salary dumping ground, not with the future of the team still up in the air.

perfect assessment of EC. I dont mind having him as the extra 13th or 14th foward. I think he was a waste last year because of the added pressure for him to produce due to the fact the year before when we acquired him he was clicking with gaborik and producing. well now we all know we cant count on him to be that kind of player. i sure as hell dont mind having him fill in every now and then as 4th line center. well see what happens he is the least of my concerns. time to focus and july 1st and richards signing the dotted line.

its a paper transaction more than anything. insurance will pay most if not all of his contract. rangers can take back someone they dont want who has like a 1 or 2 million dollar hit in order to make the actual dollars work out.
He'll have handshake agreements made with his rfas and sign Richards first. Drury may end up doing him a favor if he can erase the full 7m through ltir or waiver come camp while signing his rfas at the same time.
Everyone knows it's coming, there is no secret. Why can't the guy who runs the team confirm it? Why is Drury looked at as a sympathetic character in this? Where is all this it's a business talk? I just seen the Flyers GM almost in tears answering questions on why he had to move on from his captain, those questions were a lot harder than the ones Slats is gonna have to answer.
Sather has never really been one to negotiate in the press directly
The difference between the Drury situation and the Carter/Richards situation is Holmgren had already completed the transaction, Sather has not.
