Filatov

Filatov went for a 3rd rounder.

IMO exactly what we needed.
Young, high talented and playing our weakest position for years to come but a little bit of a gamble.

What was the reason Lombardi din't go after him ????

Like always keep it civil this is not a Lombardi bashing topic.

Remember when certain fans preferred Filatov over Doughty in 2008? It was comical. Filatov isn't exactly what the Kings need. Who knows whether or not he pans out. This guy isn't even on the Kings and his legend has already surpassed that of Pavel Rosa.

Because he's busy with Smyth, Ottawa could outbid us with draft picks, and Lombardi probably already knows who he wants in our top six as our left winger.

He'd be a nice healthy scratch under TM's system.

Ya it does make you wonder. Plus the NYR traded Grachev for a 3rd rd pick too! Goes to show that Hickey's value may not be very good at all. IMO I think/hope DL has his eyes set on one or two UFA and feels good that they will be signing in LA. Laich/Jokinen/ Fleischmann would all fit in well on the LW on the top two lines. Also we need to remember that there are also players like Wolski and others that could be moved for cap reasons too! Gonna have to wait before we react.

Ew, give me a break. No thanks. The Grachev trade was a surprise though.

well... i would even bid a 2nd rounder or something just for the chance.

I mean we have absolutely nothing than gambling as an option for our left wing.

Sure PArse is looking good but still not proven.
Kitsyn is a good looking gamble also.
There is no LW on the UFA market....................

This would be a gamble i would do any days.

doesnt he have a reputation of being a very skilled and talented player who tends to disappear a lot through the season?

I do agree with most of what ur saying i proberly would have sent the 2nd round pick for him as well but ur theres no lw comment is wrong in my opinion Laich/Jokinen/ Fleischmann richards all could fit that 2nd line spot easy

Have you noticed the 2nd rounders we have drafted the last 3 or 4 years?

He is too big of a gamble IMO...and definitely the polar opposite type of player that this organization prefers.

Filatov To Play In Russia In 2011-12

There have been reports that Nikita Filatov has grown frustrated with the North American hockey experience and may be headed back to Russia. Last I heard SKA St Petersburg was about to sign him to 2-3 year deal. So Ottawa's deal for him might be for Not!

PS Thought the Kings should've made a play for Filatov! Love his skill, and talent! Not sure Columbus wanted more than he was worth. Kings could've traded some prospects Not named Lokti,Voynov,Forbort,Moller,Vey,Toffoli,Kitsyn,Jon es or Holloway.

Not to mention, the Kings had already used their second, and don't have their second next year. And Ott's third is better then the Kings.

Columbus probably wanted to deal out of conference. It'll be funny when the Blue Jackets get moved to the East season.

Filatov was a healthy scratch in an uptempo offensive system.

I think that says it all right there.

i'm well aware of the low gambling chances....

but the UFA's aren't that nice.
I mean we brought Richards in. Do we really wanna piss him off with pairing him
with Stoll clones ?

If we bring in high end calibre, we have to support them with descent talent.
