Man, watching that interview made me realize how much I missed seeing Markov.

Not even on the ice, just having him around during the season considering we didn't see him much this past year.

Reporter: '' Are you prone to injury?''

Markov: "To be honest with you, I don't like injury... I'm going to try my best''

God, I just hope he can stay healthy for 75+ games/season for the length of the contract.

Try to speak Portuguese to a Spanish speaker, have fun. Similar language origins only go so far.

I'm happy with this - would have preferred 2 years but this was the right move.

Lavoie just tweeted that there is a NTC in Markov's new contract, he did not tweet the details

Other than that, I share a lot of the concerns that you do. Though I don't think to the same degree.
Thanks for going easy on me! (I maybe went too far with venting my frustration over Markov's injury prone body and lack of worth in playoffs). I should tone it down since I don't want to upset any fellow Hab fans or any huge Markov fans.

I really do get so frustrated (so depressing!) with Markov's injuries though! I'll just hope like many are writing...that it was all bad luck (one injury after the other).

I want to see Markov succeed, believe me I do! I'm not a Hab-hater! (quite the opposite!). I'm not a ''Markov-healthy-in-regular-season'' hater, I'm a ''Markov-is-always-injured and never shows up for playoffs'' hater!! $5,75,mil/year to nurse his injuries...I really would have loved Markov more if he took a discount just to say ''thanks for the $5,75mil/year in the last 5 years with so many injuries, so I want to show Montreal fans and management that I can bounce back and I can also take a discount so the team can be even more competitive and show my appreciation to Hab fans. 4 mil/year is more than plenty, thank-you''. Example: $4mil to $4,75mil/year for 4 years.

I really hope Markov stays healthy (obviously!) AND I also hope he helps our Habs in playoffs...for once. (I'm a huge fan of Hab players who perform really well in playoffs and show lots of courage/heart/hustle/team play...Subban, Gorges, etc, and I recently became a huge fan of Eller's warrior-like play with lots of hustle/heart in his first playoff series ).

I'm gonna support Markov (of course), but he better stay healthy!!
I really do love seeing him smile when he's on ice and we score, but I haven't seen a lot of that in 3 years. Need to see more of that, especially in playoffs. I actually wouldn't mind if Markov only played 60-65 games in the regular season (more would be better of course!) IF he shows up for the playoffs and performs really well (helps our Habs win and not just collecting his paycheck).

None of you will believe me but I am happy he's with us for 3 more years, I'm just constantly worried about his entire fragile body (get so frustrated when he gets injured again and again and again...hope he will have better luck now).

Cheers!! (Happy St-Jean a tout le monde! and Happy Canada Day
to everyone!!).

Can't wait to see who else will be added to our D-corps!!:

Markov - Emelin
O'Brien? - Subban
Gill - Gorges
------------ --------- ----------
<<Wisniewski? (can we afford him?)
<<Hamrlik? (1-2 yrs for cheap? can he take a major discount as a #5-6 dman?).
<<Spacek?
<<Diaz
<<Weber (4th line winger? PP specialist as D-man?)
<<Mara? (against teams like Philly, Boston...)
<<Sopel?

Nice response.

But if you wanna get technical...water is not part of a ''plat'' (dish).
Not important, of course...staying healthy for more than 20-30 games and ESPECIALLY showing up for the playoffs is what he better deliver for once. Showing up (staying healthy) and performing like a warrior (not just showing up).

I'll be the first Hab fan to apologize here (be really really happy to) if he delivers in playoffs (for once) AND stays healthy for more than 20-30-40 games.

How about he stays healthy for 70+ games all 3 seasons and translate his regular season talents into the playoffs for all 3 seasons also.Hopefully he can avoid the "Philly flu" and other "ailments" that will cause him to miss games vs. the B's,Flyers and the like.

So, the consensus is, we underpaid him if hes healthy the next 3 years. we overpaid him if he doesnt.

Sounds like we paid value for him. (sorry, that's my actuarial education talking here)
