What's with people saying "fleeced" or X team clearly won a trade?

This trade and the Campbell trade were to clear cap space. Both teams in each deal benefited from the trades.

Yikes. Colin Fraser may be the worst forward in the NHL and Edmonton packaged him for a 20 goal guy. Nice deal for LA too since they will probably buy out Fraser.

Considering what LA could have received from Calgary, this was a fleece job.

I assume LA will keep Fraser as a 4th liner?

don't listen to these people who are saying kings got fleeced. They don't understand how important cap space really is. This was a win/win for both and smyth finally returns home.

Oh. I fully understand. There is no guarantee whatsoever that the Kings will be able to land Richards with their cap space; so it's just a hypothetical scenario at this point. Like the reports said on Thursday, the package Calgary was offering for Smyth was significantly higher than the Oilers' proposal.

No one got "fleeced" here...

Frasers buy out is 200k - LA just saved a **** load of money to go shopping on the 1st. Glad to have Smyth back and I'm glad this crap is over.

Wasn't it the pick that went to Buffalo? I'm pretty sure the both of us have been watching this saga play-out very closely, no?

As an Oiler fan this pleases me greatly.

Seems to make sense for the Kings too to clear up some cap.

I don't think either side loses here.

Great trade for both. Smyth goes home, Kings clear a huge a mount of cap space for DL to get us a LW. Fraser will most likely be bought out anyways.

Good deal for both teams. The Oilers add some veteran leadership and character and the Kings are free to chase Brad Richards, Simon Gagne or whomever.

Love this trade for the Oilers.

Fraser is junk, he is not an NHL player IMO.

He brings nothing to a hockey club. He sucks at fighting, hitting, puck battles, face-offs, shooting, and passing.

I'm assuming his NHL days are over

The Kings gave up very little to get him, so it was going to be hard to roll Lombardi over a barrel, who won't make any trade unless it's the most he can possibly get back. In fact, this is probably better than Brule and a 5th round pick since Brule was going to be bought out, while Fraser probably won't.
