Ryan Smyth back home, always loved this player and one of the reasons Edmonton is my #2 team.

If that's correct, I'm actually surprised we didn't drop down 5 slots to add a second. Then again we would have probably ended up drafting Biggs and half the board would be rioting Vancouver style. lol

Would you rather have Miller or for the sake of argument Biggs & Kucherov?

well if you believe what gordie said after the draft, we probably would have taken fogarty with the 2nd. not sure i believe that but there was no one taken in the 2nd after the pho pick that i say 'omg i wish we got that guy'

With Smyth being traded do the Kings resume their hunt for Brad Richards? They already got Mike Richards and have Kopitar down the middle, I'm really hoping they have other needs. I can't imagine Sather giving Richards more than 7 years with a 7.5 million dollar cap hit, but the Rangers don't need the Kings and Leafs competing with them for Richard's services.

stranger things have happened but makes little sense for them to still go after brad with kopitar, m richards, and stoll down the middle...they are pretty set down the middle (and young) and that cap space would be much better spent on a winger to play with those centers...not to mention they need to sign doughty to a huge extension.

only way it makes sense for them to still go after b richards is if they think they can turn around and trade kopitar or m richards for the stud winger they need. but i think they are out of the race

Wang is so cheap, that rather than pay for some tv commercials, billboards, or even a sign on the back of some guy's truck, he's prostituting out his top prospects to advertise his desperate plea to the taxpayers for an arena "upgrade."

Expect a door-to-door visit shortly, if you live in Nassau County!

Actually, most posters here had Biggs on their list to take at 15.

Go read the Toronto board. They took him at 22 (I think?) and a lot of them aren't happy about it. Imagine if we took him at 15? It wouldn't have even been much of a reach. Mckenzie had Biggs ranked higher than Miller and McNeill...

On a sidenote, what the hell is Burke thinking acquiring Liles?

Phaneuf
Komisarek
Finger(LOL)
Gunnarsson
Aulie
Schenn
Liles

They are going to have a TON of money invested in their defense...AGAIN.
Caught this post from someone here. Just to clarify, you know Finger plays for the Toronto Marlies right? People don't include Redden when talking about the Rangers' D.

Yes, I realize.

Just seems like Burke is tying up more money in his defense wen he should concentrate on his offense. The defense was fine.

I'm not trying to take the thread off topic, but they traded two top four defenseman at the trade deadline so probably needed to replace at least one to avoid three kids or Komisarek in the top four. There's still a little over 18 million left right now.

As to the question someone asked above: Miller >> Biggs. Think he has a pretty low ceiling.

RT @sportsnetmurph: #canucks Kevin Bieksa's contract will be a 5-year deal. No official word on cap hit yet, but should be in the 4.5 range.

http://twitter.com/#!/TSNBobMcKenzie
As per @FarhanLaljiTSN, Bieksa deal is 5 x $4.6 with a NTC.

Way too much for Bieksa.

Makes the Girardi and Staal deals look like even bigger discounts because of Bieksa's inconsistency.

You gotta think Stevie Y will match most anything. Somebody can set the TBL back if they offer Stamkos something nuts and he signs it.

Absolutely or 4 first rounders guarantee they wouldn't be top 10 picks. This would take Sather breaking one of his rules though. What would you give for his RFA rights? I'd start with Dubinsky and keep adding, he's the real #91 I want on the Rangers

Worst part about this is Flyers fans have been acting like they're going to get him ever since the Carter/Richards trade more fuel for their fire.

for the rights to Stamkos?

Id go something like...Dubinsky, AA, a first rounder.

its a ton. but Stamkos is one of the 3 best players in the game. then id lock his ass up for 10 years.

btw, how the heck did my post get an "originally posted by jagr68blahblah"

rumor has it the Lightning lost between 20 and 25 million dollars last year...its why they are hesitant to give Stamkos the contract he deserves. they sell a decent amount of tix...but they have like the lowest prices in the league.
