Edmonton kills off the 5 on 3 and then Reasoner scores a SH goal. What a great play by the Oilers penalty killers.

Mack. Forsberg has clearly embellished two calls tonight, no defending him.

im not ****ing defending anyone. it happens. its more ****ing annoying when all people do is ***** about it theres nothing we can do about it. the refs job is to call it the way they see it. If Forsberg feels the stick on him he's gonna go down weather its legitiment or not. He's done it for along time, so why dont you blame the god dam refs?

Much like the St Louis game, the Avs were guilty of too much passing on the 5 on 3.

Avs kill off the penalty, about six minutes left in regulation.

Avs going back on the powerplay.

This game is pretty much over imo.
Sauve has looked very shakey...looks slow.

Edmonton kills off the penalty, barring a miracle, that should about wrap it up for the Oilers.

6-3 Edmonton is your final, the Oilers tacked on an EN goal with under 30 seconds left.

Simply put, Edmonton outworked the Avs.

Sauve was shakey to say the least. Its quite clear that puck handling isn't once of his best assets. His misplaying of the puck lead to two Edmonton goals. I haven't had a chance to see Edmonton this year, but I must say I was impressed. From the drop of the puck they really took it to the Avalanche and won the special teams battle. I'm looking forward to the rematch on Thursday night.

Great game by the Oil. This game would have been even better had it been Abby v Salo but Sauve had to make a start sometime. 2 shorthanded goals, 5 powerplay goals and 1 even strength goal! Pity about all the penalties but a terrific effort by the Oilers.

edit: I forgot to mention the empty netter charity goal at the end.

Both these teams scored more goals today than my ducks have scored the whole season.

Brutal debut for Sauve. Weird game overall. Giving up two shorthanded goals must hurt the pride of the Avs quite a bit.

It seems like the refs have called everything tonight, not only in this game. Hopefully we will see consequent refereeing from now on and not some refs sticking to a hard line and some don't. That will lead to horrible hockey.

Ack, I have to say that I was sickened by all the penalties...So many bad calls and non-calls. The reffing tonight in general around the league was just terrible. Look at the Atlanta game....the Bruins game....all the games....I guess I can learn to live with 40 mins of the game either PP/SH for my teams

Okay, I'm back.

Edmonton seems to score bunches of shorthanded goals against the Avalanche.

It is October they have brand new whizzles to break in that they will forget they even have come April.

I have no problem if you call it hard in October just call it the same freaking way in May too the rules have no section in them that says this is a penalty in October only.

But i see 3-4 weeks of this slashing calling and than that novelty will be gone since so far they have always managed to forget to call everything later in the season they said they should crack down on ( look Obstruction last year) was 10+ PP's in october in every damn game and came February just as much clutch and grab but no calls being made.

Luckily, not a particularly bright man's prediction!

Who would have expected the Oilers to win a clash of special teams against the Avs? Strong game by Salo and (despite giving up 3 PP goals) the Oilers PK unit. The refereeing in this game was pretty cheesy. Peter Forsberg's ham acting is a disgrace. Wonder if Mike Comrie enjoyed the game?
