He can be a good 2nd line center. However, right now I like Stepan in that slot if we get Richards.
That'll come with experience and just building up his body.

It'll eventually come. I wouldn't doubt it.

I'm more worried about speed. He's got - or will get - everything else necessary for a 1st line center. I just worry that he'll never have the wheels.

I really like Artem, but I too would move him for Stastny - especially if we don't get Richards.

I think people have to realize AA was only 22 this season. He has put in the time towards his physical development and he has SO much more room to add more muscle. The guy has VERY high hockey IQ.

True, true. He does skate a little awkward due to his lanky build. I can see him putting on a few pounds and that skating speed changes because of the muscle.

I like this kid a lot. His hands, work ethic, two-way game, his age...
I think he has the potential, but I don't know. Hopefully with age and experience some of the things keeping him back from hitting that become non-factors. Arty can handle the puck, but he's often half a second too slow when he dekes and can't do anything with it, and his shot isn't quick at all.

I think he can be a 1b type of center in his prime. Fix the few flaws in his game and he's deking, shooting, and thrilling .

I'd love to see what Artie could do with some more PP time. Really underrated player.

My guess is the offers weren't enough.

I don't think he was offered star caliber player/s.

If he was, no way the Rangers turn that down.

So my Anisimov for Perry, Getzlaf, Ryan, and a 1st was nothing more than me hallucinating.

Sad.

At 23 it'll be his third full year in the league. That in itself is impressive. He jumped nicely in pts from year one to year two. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he became a capable first line center. I expect he'll be at least a very good 2 or a lower 1.

28 points as a 21 year old in his rookie year. 44 points as a 22 year old. There were rumors that he might be moved at the dealine but once the deadline passed he started playing better. I see him breaking 50 point plateau next season. Would be extremely happy if he turned into 25 goal/60 point 2nd line C.

Nice to hear that Anisimov is sought after around the league, and that the Rangers have repeatedly made it known he is not available.

I've felt that Artem's upside around here is consistently underrated. The Rangers certainly have the potential to have some fantastic center depth for years to come.
+1

<-- If you couldn't tell.

True though, my heart skipped a beat as I read the title before the body of the thread loaded. I thought it was going to say something along the lines of Anisimov's agent asking for too much money.

I hope so. I'm going to focus on that this season; to see if there is any improvements. It's needed in the playoffs otherwise he's going to be walked on every game.

I love AA's game. Looking forward to see him grow and get better. he's improved every following season in his career. I hope that remains true for the rest of his career. By 2016, Anisimov breaks Gretzky's single season record

I see him topping out absolute ceiling at about 70 points. I like to think of him in the same light as Zajac but the difference is Anisimov is more creative and has a better wrister, where as zajac is more meat and potatoes, plain jane type of center with a better slapper.

Just some other points I'd like to add in.
1) the guy barely gets any PP time, I believe he should be used alot more on the PP due to his size, puck handling and wrister
2) Not only did he improve as a player this his, it was evident that he was a lot more confident. He didn't take **** from anybody and always pushed back. When a player isn't a afraid to get physical and doesn't try to avoid confrontation at all costs that means alot. Shows that he's willing to play the game hard and will get into a shoving match if it means going hard to the net to get a rebound.

Thats nice lip service from the organization. In truth, theres no reason to deal him right now.

But if this team lands Richards, Stepan keeps progressing, and needs firepower at the deadline, I still think AA is one of the most likely to be going in a deal.

Boyle's more likely to go than Anisimov. The guys 22 years old and well on his way to becoming one of the best 2nd line centers all around in the league. If for the next 5 years we can roll 3 deep with Richards, Stepan, and Anisimov, the league better watch out.

Boyle will net very little in return. You have to give to get.

His production always goes up, which is a fantastic sign in a player and something the Rangers staff highly covets. We've never seen a 3rd year out of him at any level professionally, so I for one am very excited with what we will see next season.

My guess is the deals haven't been good enough. I can't imagine why they don't want to deal Anisimov unless they really think he's really the answer at third line center OR they think Anisimov and Stepan are 1 and 2 in the future and they're not as interested in Richards.

Also, something like this going public could mean Sather is shopping him and his value is trying to be upped.
