Good - Bringing in Yanic Perreault as a free agent invitee after the lockout. Perreault was a great addition to that team and helped out a lot of our younger centers learn about the art of taking faceoffs before he injured his knee.

Good - Bringing in Martin Gelinas as a free agent to mentor some of our younger players as a teammate (especially Tootoo) and then keeping him around in that same capacity after he retired as the Director of Player Development.

Bad- trading many assets for Forsberg, and still not getting out of round 1. If we had done that it would have been worth it.

Good-recouping all the assets traded for forsberg except Upshall with nothing more than the rights to free agents we were going to lose anyway

Good. Drafting a guy named Magnus Hellberg. Couldn't ask for a better name.

Bad - Saying we would not let our own, home-grown players leave, then letting Skrastins walk right out the door for nothing.

Third round pick from the Avs, but point taken.

Bad - Our 2nd round draft history prior to 2003.

Jonas Anderson, Adam Hall (not bad), Andrew Hutchinson, Ed Hill, Jan Lasak make up the 99 class.

Daniel Widing in 2000.

Timofei Shishkanov and Tomas Slovak in 2001.

None in 2002 or 1998.

Man that is awful. We came in with a fantastic 1 for 8 in the second round (2/8 if you count Hutch). For the record, there was not a single NHLer out of the third round picks either aside from Denis Arkhipov producing a whopping 1 for 7 in the third round. In other words, we had 15 second and third round picks from 98-2002 (5 years, so one extra selection each year). We produced 2 NHLers, and both were pretty lousy NHLers.

Bad

Taking the bait on Lombardi when the rest of the GMs knew it was a raw deal since he was uninsurable.

i would say, based off how the season unfolded, and how little parent played with a decimated vancouver defence, it was a good move.

are you kidding? SOB was mostly terrific for us, whereas Parent was relegated to the AHL, likely for good this time.

I think we just had three Goods in a row, but the one above me is bad so I'll go with a good.

Good: Letting Zanon walk instead of overpaying him.

Parent's demotion to the AHL had nothing to do with his play, but rather salary cap. I think, because he was on a 2-way, they could demote him and save money, because otherwise, they would have been over.
