Waive Shelley, Sign Powe,Nodl and Sesito.
Powe-Betts-Nodl with Sesito as the 13th forward.
I think that would be the ideal scenario. I really like Nodl. He doesn't have great offensive instincts, but he's solid defensively, big, and great along the boards. Powe brings speed and hitting, while Betts (assuming he's healthier than he was last season) brings decent faceoff abilities and defensive responsibility. I'd love to have Sestito in the lineup rather than Shelley. He's huge, fights better than Shelley, and can actually play. We won't waive Shelley, though. He is by all accounts a great leader in the dressing room and the organization seems to really like having him on the roster. If Sestito, Powe, Betts, and Nodl all outplay Shelley in training camp, however, I could see him being a healthy scratch for most of the year or possibly even sent down to Adirondack.
Winger Kris Versteeg will now wear No. 32 on his jersey. Brayden Schenn, acquired as part of the deal that sent Richards to Los Angeles, will wear No. 10, which Versteeg wore upon arriving in Philadelphia last season.
Wayne Simmonds, who was also acquired as part of the Richards deal, will wear No. 17, which had been Carter's jersey number. Jakub Voracek, whom the Flyers acquired when they sent Carter to the Blue Jackets, will wear No. 9.
Bob McKenzi Tweeted Nodl's salary to be $845K per year for two seasons... IIRC that is actually a $5k reduction from last season. If true it's good to actually see a reduction in a salary in the Cap Era on a young players and not just the journeyman/end of career players

Nodl's contract with PHI is 2 years at $845K per year.
