B. Richards telling people he's going to New York

Quote:
If I heard it once, I heard it a dozen times during this Entry Draft weekend in Minnesota: "[Brad] Richards told [X] he wants to come to New York."

Are you sure he didn't mean the city of York?

SHHHHHH! Don't scare the Leafs fans!

No surprise here.

I'll be surprised if he signs for more than 6 million per season. Rangers need the cap space to sign their kids and be a real competitor next year.

The Rangers are like the Yankees...minus the winning. The sooner Sather is fired, the sooner the Rags move in a positive direction.

Yes, you're right. That is one of the primary reasons for Richards not wanting to play for them. That and their mediocrity-laden roster.

Hopefully New York offered him a deal already, and it results in another Scott Stevens / Blues incident.

Scott Gomez wanted to come to New York. He talked about it for weeks on his way out the door across the Hudson, but it took more than $50 million over seven years to get him to say yes to Sather on July 1, 2007.

Chris Drury wanted to come to New York. He made that crystal clear on his way out of Buffalo, but it took more than $35 million over five years (plus a no-move clause) to get him to sign the bottom line on that same day.

Bobby Holik wanted to come to New York. Everyone understood that, but it took $45 million over five years to get him into a Blueshirt on July 1, 2002.

LOL, yeah because the Rangers team is loaded with talent! Without Lundqvist, you guys are nothing.

Richards > Holik + Gomez + Drury

He's gonna look mighty good in Red White and Blue

Yeah, while reporting that "people" told him that Richards wants to go to N.Y., Brooks is rather opposed to the idea of signing Richards long term.

This feels like an Eklund rumor. If there was really whispers of Brad saying he wanted to be in New York, Eklund would have been behind one of the garbage cans to hear it.

It's going to be the Rangers or Leafs just because they are the most desperate and are willing to fight to the death for him. I'm sure teams like the Kings, Lightning, Sabres, etc. will throw offers at him, but the Leafs/Rangers will just go up a million and kick them out from the discussion.
