Henning Confirms RFA's Hansen, Lapierre, Oreskovich, Shirokov QO'd.
@JamiesonCanucks Canucks Asst. GM Lorne Henning confirms that key #Canucks RFS'a Jannike Hansen, Maxim Lapierre, and Victor Oreskovich sent qualifiying offers.
Looks like no qualifying offer was sent to Shirokov? Bit of a mistake in my opinion.
*EDIT* - There have been no confirmed reports as of yet about Shirokov not being qualified. However L. Sweatt has NOT been qualified.

I would be shocked if Shirokov wasn't qualified. That would be terrible asset management. He was probably just telling which roster player RFAa were being qualified.

Did they lose faith in Shirokov's development? Do they just not see a place for him to fit in the roster?
The way we handle goal scorers is baffling to me. I'm starting to develop a theory and I keep finding more and more evidence to support it.

Title is misleading. No one said we didn't send a QO to Shirokov, it's just his name was omitted in the tweet. Do you think they were going to list every player who they sent QO's to?

Jamieson may have just inquired about the NHL players being qualified.
Bolduc, Desbiens, Bliznak and Sweatt are RFA's as well.
btw- did anyone call Tallon and remind him what day it is today?

It doesn't matter...he doesn't have anyone worth re-signing anymore.

The qualifying offer would be too high, no?
Better to re-sign for a lot less $$$ for us and for him, it enhances his chances of playing in the NHL.
BTW, Bill Sweatt will be a similar problem.

Maybe we can pick up Steve Bernier.

Absolutely. They did it in the past. There isn't a tweet-per-day limit so they could have just sent a second one if it didn't fit.
For one of our top prospects, it's a pretty important piece of info.

Edited the thread title until we get some clarity on whether or not other guys were qualified.
Bolduc, Desbiens, etc. were not RFAs--they are UFAs. Everyone should use capgeek for their projections.
Lee Sweatt is an RFA, however.

Once Jamieson clarifies I'll update the title or a Mod can do it for me if they can beat me to it.

NHL salaries has them as RFA's. Is that an unreliable source?

This might be an idiotic question, but what is NHL Salaries? (website? Or is this an official extension of the NHLPA site, or...?)
Capgeek is usually the most reliable for up to date contract info.
EDIT: It also lists Shirokov, Macgregor Sharp, Oreskovich and Bliznak as RFAs. We already know Bliznak is going overseas, and I don't really see much of a point in wasting a contract spot on Sharp...seems like a mediocre AHLer at best.

You laugh but I would absolutely love to see Bernier signed at around 750k to play on a 3b line for us.
Higgins-Manny-Hansen
Torres-Lapierre-Bernier
Oreskovich
Would be such an amazing bottom 6. Bernier was a good player for us, his only crime was that he was paid way too much and he'll never be the top-6 player we hoped he would be. Adding his size and creativity on the 4th line for anything under a mil would be sweet.

I agree, I'd have no problem with Bernier coming back for the right price. He's solid in the bottom 6 and is versatile enough that he can move around the line-up in a pinch.

TSN has t he following players as RFA's this year needing to be qualified.
Roster players - Lapierre, Hansen, Oreskovich
Non-Roster players - Mario Bliznak, Alex Bolduc, Guillaume Desbiens, MacGregor Sharp, Sergei Shirokov, Lee Sweatt.
That is the site I think is the most trustworthy.

I believe Bolduc and Desbiens are group VI UFAs (25+ years old, 3+ years of professional experience, and less than 80 NHL games played).
The other guys (Hansen, Oreskovich, Lapierre, Bliznak, Sharp, Shirokov, and Sweatt) are all RFAs.
