Barb Underhill working with these guys later today? How much do the Rangers pay her? Seems like she's gotten a lot of business from our team.

Apparently Hagelin finished 60-0 in his 4 years at Michigan on the stair runs... that is absurd.

Andrew Gross has a blog entry up about McIlrath's improved skating: http://blogs.northjersey.com/blogs/r...ating_evident/

Edit: He has one on Erixon too now: http://blogs.northjersey.com/blogs/r...e_jump_to_nhl/

The one thing no one can knock about McIlrath is his attitude. The kid has a VERY good work ethic and a great head on his shoulders.

He is there. I'm excited to see what he can do this season with a full season of training. Physically, he has the makings of a power-forward. I just hope he took the time to study tape and watch the game from another perspective when he was injured. Sometimes that can be a very good thing for a player to do.

Leslie, what do you think the chances are for Hagelin and/or Thomas to make the team?

Hopefully pretty good for Hagelin...I had already penciled him in the lineup. lol

And Thomas can play a dozen or so games with the Rangers and then be sent down, right?...hopefully they give him an extended look.

Oh and I can't wait to see Hagelin in blue. He's always been one of my favorite prospects.

Awards:
Viktor Kamensky is Valeri's son. He must be in camp as a favor to Valeri, as the guy is 22 playing 4th-level senior amateur hockey in Switzerland. That's basically beer league.

And Donny Maloney, Jr. is obviously the son of Don Maloney. He looks like a CHL-caliber player at best.

I love that Miller and Fogarty were able to attend but my favorite part is

@thenyrangers Barbara Underhill videotaping and critiquing each prospects skating stride at #NYR development camp right now

especially since someone said Fogarty's skating need improvement.

i don't know how much harder they run pre-season camp than these prospect camps but here is another gem from nyr twitter.

Quote:
Carl Hagelin asked after on-ice conditioning test about how difficult it wade "not so bad!"
Torts is there - i imagine this by far a light weight test as even well conditioned athletes say the real deal is hellish.

Are there any full write-ups from the beat writers for Day 1? Is Leslie going to be there for today?

^^^ Closest I've seen is a couple of interviews with McIlrath and Erixon (on Ranger Rants). Since the first day is pretty much just guys skating in circles, there's not a lot to see. Today they'll do drills and scrimmages, and Leslie will be there

Yeah I don't know how it compares to the real camp, but again, Hagelin is a straight up workout monster. He WOULD say it wasn't that bad

I thought I read somewhere that the prospect camp first day tests were the ones that Tortorella came up with, and are indeed the hellish tests everyone usually mentions.

But considering what has been written about Hagelin, I would imagine he loves those kind of drills
