Czech Republic played against Sweden in Czeska Polstovja Cup tonight. Jan Marek played RW on the 2nd line for the Czech Rep. Sweden won 5-3.
This was the best showing I've seen from Marek so far. He scored a goal and made a beautiful behind the back pass which resulted in a assist. Marek is a tremendous stickhandler, he really have lightning hands. But his overall hockey sense, not vision but hockey sense, isn't on pair with the rest of his game. Mareks stickhandling is kind of like Rico Fatas speed, against lesser opponents that one outstanding skill is enough, but its not enough at the higest levels. Overall Marek plays quit simular game as Jeff Hamilton. When Marek gets a oppertunity/opening he does everything right. Though in more ordinary situations of the game he trys to be flashy and trys to do too much, he also isn't involved in the game enough to be a top end 1-way player. However playing well for the national team is great for Mareks confidence and future, playing against international competition is exactly what he needs. Marek have won the scoring league in the Czech league but inorder to be successful on the national team he needs to work allot on his game, that could be the challenge he needs to tale his game to the next level. Its not likely, but he might turn into a Mike Comrie type of player.
Highlights at: (unfortunatly the last goal which Marek assisted on is missing, marek wears nr 15.)
