You could do this with a very looooooooong contract.

For instance: 12M, 12M, 12M, 10M, 10M, 8M, 8M, 8M, 8M, 8M, 8M, 7M, 6M, 6M, 6M, 5M, 5M, 5M
When matching an offer sheet, are you bound to that contract exactly? Or can you match the amount of money/years but change the annual distribution/cap hit? I would assume you are left matching the exact terms of the offer sheet, but I'm just curious.

I think it would have to be the former. All NHL contracts are structured on a year-by-year basis, after all. If Stamkos signs it, it's his contract whether Tampa matches or not.

Way off on that one.

James Van Riemsdyk ($1.654m) / Claude Giroux ($3.750m) / Wayne Simmonds ($2.100m)

CAP SPACE (21-man roster): $4,569,405

I'd honestly like us to add Brooks Laich but I think Lavy will want Erik Cole instead.

SOB would be a good third pairing for the Flyers. Fredrick Sjostrom would ease the PK ability of Powe.

Voracek and Simmonds costs us 4.7 million and we can extend JVR. Plus we have cap space to maneuver during the season...

As a fellow SOB, the other SOB sucks, and certainly not worth more than 1.000, God only knows why teams continue to pay him more....Also, not saying that those were you specific proposed lineups, but if we DID get SOB, him playing next to a rookie would be a disaster every game.

- Get Leino under a reasonable contract in the area of 3-3.5
- Sign a vet to the third pairing, how about a guy like Scott Hannan, shouldn't be to expensive.
- Sign a guy like Adam Hall for the 4th-line

Then go with:

Hartnell - Briere - Leino
JVR - Giroux -Voracek
Versteeg - Schenn - Simmonds
Nodl - Betts - Hall
Shelley

Carle - Pronger
Coburn - Timonen
Meszaros - Hannan

Bryzgalov
Bobrovsky

How NHL-ready is Schenn?

noone can be certain, but I am fairly certain the intention is to start him on the team, as a 3rd line center so he does not have too much pressure, and he will be surrounded by good players. Could be rookie of the year, could struggle to adjust, its hard to say.

How NHL ready is Gustavsson. I don't get to see him play at all. Are we all including him on our rosters because we honestly think he is ready or because of his cap hit? Is he good enough that he makes O'Donnell expendible?

Kinda both. He was serviceable when we needed him last year, and at a certain point you have to give your prospects a shot.

Worst case, you can sign/acquire a veteran midseason if he's not working out.

All depending on if Leino doesn't sign. I would like to see the Flyer's get another possible top-9 winger or center. Also a 4th liner who can help the PK due to the loss of Powe, Richards, and Carter. Gustafsson and Bart will have to battle it out for the 6th spot on D or the if the Flyer's could find a capable shutdown defender for less than 2 million they could put him in the 6th spot with Bart or Gus, preferably Bart, playing the 7th D-man role.

We can do better than Stewart and i wouldn't want Stewart at 2 million he didnt even receive a QO he wont get much more than the league min i would think.

You're undervaluing him. Not saying I think he deserves more than 4 million, but there's a handful of dmen out there making similar figures that I don't consider as good as Bieksa.

Kinda tight, and pretty far fetched. I'm tired and bored so my perception of this team making the ECF could be crazy.

Konopka for 1.1M? Are you high? I know Shelley is that high, but just no dude... I don't know why people think Betts sucks when he had a major hand problem for most of the season.

Those proposals were at both ends of the spectrum. Bogosian's stock has fallen off a cliff, but hopefully SS was joking with that lowball.

Let's just go down the middle

Carle and Kings 2012 2nd. If so, heres the total outcome of the trades:

Mike Richards, Jeff Carter, Matt Carle, Bordson
for
Jakub Voracek, Wayne Simmonds, Sean Couturier, Brayden Schenn, Zach Bogosian, and Nick Cousins.

Take it.

Another Tight squeeze, but strictly FA signings, no trades.
Arnott could be a good stopgap for a year or 2 until Schenn or Coots is ready, don't know what kind of salary he's looking for.
