Please provide us with updates on your impressions of the prospects. I'll be interested to see who out of the new picks show up too. Thanks!

I'm not sure how much help I'll be, but I'll certainly try. I'll be mostly looking at goalies, as that's my speicalty. Oh, and if you hear someone booing Chet Pickard, it's me....and i only mean that half sarcasticly.

You gonna boo Ellis too? Oh wait, you can't, you won't be able to see him over the boards he's so short.

Even if I could, I wouldn't. I like Ellis, I just think he's redundant with Josi, Blum, and Franson. I think he's a great player and all. I'll only boo Pickard. Hellberg has a year to prove to me he doesn't suck too. Then the booing will commence if I am not satisfied.

Pickard presumably has one chance to resuscitate his career.

Hopefully the time up with the team during the playoffs allowed Korn to sprinkle some magic dust on him.

Not sure what happened to Chet.. IIRC he had a pretty good year right after we drafted him(top goalie in the WHL??) and IIRC he was decent in Milwaukee his first pro season, but I remember last year in training camp hearing the Belak had scored on him in a drill and thought... uh oh...

We have to remember Smith went thru some major issues as well and turned it around last year. I don't think this is a make or break year for Pickard and certainly don't think he's done just yet. Sometimes goalies take time to develop. With Korn as our goalie coach I don't think any of our goalies are ever really truly done, especially at such a young age.

He's been skating for well over a month and last report was that he was hoping to be cleared for full contact by camp.

the fact that he's coming back to rookie orientation camp, is not a good sign at all

I wouldn't read anything into that....they need more bodies out there than just Smith.

If Mitch Korn is in town, why wouldn't he?

Taylor Beck is coming back too as is Roman Josi is it a bad sign for them too?

I take it as he's ready to work more to get back on track.

Jeremy Smith and Chet Pickard are coming to camp because there aren't many other goalies in our system right now. Atte Engren missing is the surprise to me. If he was there, I think Smith wouldn't be attending.

It's to build confidence in the forwards.

Thank god I have flexible hours. My employer literally says "work x amount of hours this week, we don't care when". It's a dream come true for an intern

I'll probably be there over the weekend at least once. Definitely won't be there during the week--payroll, end of month, end of quarter, and other things just don't bode well for easing on down to the Sportsplex. I'll look forward to reading your reports.
