Raved about how he thinks Richards will bring nothing but good things in all areas. And that has was "shocked" like all of us were when the deal went down.

Then went on to talk about the goaltenders, and how JB really settled in the second half and played well, but Quick is still #1 as of now.

-Surprised they got Richards, not concerned about negative rumors, LA is a fresh start.

-Surprised about Smyth requesting trade, Glad it worked out for him, Parse is his replacement for him for now.

-Doughty is awesome. Richards will make him more awesome.

-Quick is his #1, but he sees considerable improvement in Bernier, and thinks this year will be real competitive between them.

Murray was surprised/excited to hear Richards will be joining the team. Emphasized how it will be nice for Richards to get to just focus on being a player vs. a captain, and how much his hockey IQ will bring to our club.

He also had great things to say about Bernier's development and how he expects to see a healthy competition for the future #1 spot in goal between him and Quick.

Hopefully a good sign that we won't see JB traded away anytime soon, I love the security of knowing we have two very strong players ready to step in front of the net.

Good to hear about Bernier. Puts more pressure on Quick to keep his play at a high level. Competition is good.

Wouldn't mind an even split thru November with the team opening in Europe. Pick a #1 in December and see how they react.

The most interesting part of the interview, imo, is that TM says Parse can replace Smyth, even after Lombardi said to Hammond that:

Quote:
LOMBARDI: “It’s safe to say that there’s a potential for a mid-range move.”
So what's it going to be? The injury prone, showing flashes of brilliance/showing flashes of being lost and not having NHL skill or a proven scorer like Gagné or Jokinen.

Clearly DL and TM are not on the same page here

Parse "can" replace him if Terry absolutely has no choice. It's Dean's job to get someone to fill that position. And actually, Dean isn't necessarily using absolute language in that quote either.

Murray can't talk about any player that isn't a UFA or under contract with the Kings. That would be tampering.

Dean can't even talk about Brule being part of the initial trade because that would be tampering since he still belongs to Edmonton.
