Also heard rumblings that the talks were going good prior to January and then soured after Tampa told Stamkos and his Agent the long term plan which they didn't like.

I know it's a long shot but it's the offseason so gotta gobble up every little bit of rumor and speculation to pass the time.

However I can assure you I would poop my pants from excitement if he somehow ended up a Ranger. On the flip side I'd vomit if Philly got him.

Only way we'd get him would be through trade. In my mind, for Stamkos, the only pieces we can't give are henrik and staalsie.

I'd gladly include Staal in a deal for Stamkos. I'd probly allow Lundqvist to be negotiated as well.

We don't have a single player in our organization valuable enough to be listed as "untouchable" for a player like Stamkos.

This team without Hank with Stamkos still goes nowhere.

Not entirely true. A decent goalie could be had hell they could just sign Vokoun. I wouldn't move Lundqvist but if you got an elite player such as Stamkos you could theoretically get by with a little weaker net minder.

Possible, but my point is Stamkos just doesn't suddenly make this team SC champions if we get rid of Staal and Hank. They had MSL and Vinny Lecav but their defense and goaltending were average against the Bruins, and thus they lost.

Agree it wouldn't but we'd be closer and in a position to compete for the next 10+ years.

I wouldn't trade Lundqvist for Stamkos, but would have to think long and hard (That's what she said lol) about moving Staal. I'm leaning towards yes with this teams D depth.

Avery and Carcillo on the same team? God help us all! Why do I picture the bash brothers from Mighty Ducks?

My problem is he doesn't know when to shut up. I can handle him in small doses generally.

I wouldn't go that far. There's a difference between knowing the college or junior team that every single prospect and young player played for and knowing the game of hockey.

Tom Pyatt wasn't qualified. The Gomez trade looks better by the day, but I'm sure Montreal fans will find some way to say that they "won" the trade.

Also, Nigel Dawes wasn't tendered a QO either. It still boggles my mind how the Rangers managed to draft such scrubs in 2003.

Many of the non-qualified players were arbitration eligible. Their teams will look to re-sign them without an arbitration case hanging over their heads.
