No offer tendered to Brian Elliott leaves Colorado with no goalies under contract.

Looks like they're going to make a major run for Vokoun.

If they fail to grab someone on the market though, boy are they in trouble.

I would expect them to re-sign Budaj now that they've let Elliot go. Or maybe they are considering a new backup, who knows. A Vokoun run seems certain though.

I'm surprised. The Elliott acquisition confirmed Budaj was done, but I figured they'd be holding onto Elliott just to have someone to stick in net. Sherman must have something in place.

Why would Vokoun sign with team rebuilding? TB makes more sense for Vokoun

Huet to Avs (E4) ,, To help them reach cap floor

Could be trying to get Elliott for cheaper than his QO.

I'm sure with the cap room open that they will probably end up overpaying for vokoun. Especially since they have needed a long time fix at goal ever since Roy left. Vokoun isnt that caliber but could be solid for 4-5 years.

the Avs are closer than you think. last year was horribly unlucky with injuries, and the goaltending/defense was awful to boot. revamped defense, hopefully less ridiculous injuries...add a goaltender like Vokoun...

at least that's the pitch I'd make to him. and we'll outbid anyone.

I think the strategy is sucking in a goalie by vacuum.

Giguere could always be signed for about 1 million if worse comes to worse ....

And the Avs could get Yakupov

I've been saying Vokoun to Colorado for months and I still believe that. It wouldn't be the first time in the past few years that an ex-Panther goalie signs there if it happens.

Truthfully, I would have re-signed Elliott over Budaj. I was surprised when Budaj got re-signed last time. To think they keep him, over Elliott besides, surprises me. Yet again, the Elliott I've seen has shut down the Sabres for the past few years so he might just suck against the 28 other teams in the league.

Would Varlamov accept a trade to Colorado? I heard he's thinking KHL but maybe the idea of being a starter will bring him back.

Maybe Colorado says "who gives a ****" we will still finish in a lottery situation regardless if we have a goalie or not.

There were plenty of goalies last year who went unsigned. If they fail on Vokoun, they'll have plenty of options.

I see the Avs acquiring one of Varlamov/Bobrovsky/Enroth or Lindback to be there #1 and then go with vet #2 (Overpaid vet to help reach cap floor)

They're not signing budaj, either they are gonna still sign Elliot and try for vokoun. Or they're gonna sign two free agent goalies.

They could still try for Schneider or Bernier but the ship has sailed when they didn't trade the 11th overall during the draft.

Theres vokoun, Harding, and roloson or they can make a trade.
