Yeah, the threat of them cooled off the opposition's full pressure, IMO. I also think Richie's not being here will take the edge off Giroux's killing.

Wow. Good value for Powe but man I'll miss him. Loved watching him play his heart out every shift out there.

Hopefully they sign another 4th line Center that can PK and back up Betts for draws. Powe couldn't handle the draws well after trying to take over for Betts.

Loved Powe's game, but a third rounder is a nice return and he's replaceable honestly.

Good luck to him in Minny though!

Hmmm. Don't really understand this move. Powe was great for us and I'll miss his game, but it's not really that big of a deal.

Good luck to him.

Do you guys think this means we have intentions of bringing in some bottom 6 defensive forwards? Torres? Resoner? Belanger?

Powe was clearly in the party club with Richards, Carter and Carcillo

Philly caught Minny with their funk down.

With Nodl re-signing, Powe was expendable at even strength; very curious to see who kills penalties up front this year, though...

I really don't like this move. I know he is just a fourth liner, but I would rather have kept him and dealt Nodl. Powe was true grit on the ice. Non stop sort of work ethic and hits anything that moves. Not to mention his PK ability. I figured he would be the go to PK this season with no Richards out there. Guess not. Third round pick ain't too shabby though.

With the whole thing of Kalinski's QO getting extending is interesting. I find that he is an underrated player and could step in on the 4th line of a bunch of teams (I think anyways from what I've seen of his play).

But you will be missed Powe and honestly, I don't think I'll miss Carcillo.

I don't think I can remember so many moves (specifically big names before this Powe trade) in such a short period before this. Gonna miss Powe as he was a solid guy. Had to edit my avatar, maybe I'll just go with a mad scientist Homer.

I bet they try JVR on the PK as an experiment early on in the season

sucks to see powe go, as i thought he was the perfect 4th line energy guy(and was real cheap) but a third is way too good an offer to pass up for him.

Don't worry about killing penalties, with Carcillo and Powe gone we won't take anywhere near as many.

Powe wasn't that bad. 41 PIM for a guy that can really throw his weight really isn't bad at all. ****, even Hartnell had 142 PIM this past season.

Powe had only 41 PIM last year. Briere has 87. Powe wasn't really putting us on the PK constantly.

Carcillo, on the other hand, had 127.

Great return for Powe, but I miss him and so will this team. We just traded away 3 excellent defensive forwards who can kill penalties. Could be something of an issue

Hard to complain about getting a 3rd round pick for Powe
