I'll only miss the yelling at the referees and the faces he made while doing it from Carcillo.

Not qualifying Brian Stewart leaves the Flyers without a waiver-exempt goalie on a two-way contract.

Does anyone see the Flyers throwing offers at the likes of Stewart, Bergfors, Lepisto (young defender), Repik, Lea Sweat, or even Kennedy since these players didn't get a qualifying offer?

I'm sure it'll be fine, Flyers goaltenders are renowned for their health.

Hmm Breezy and Bob get hurt. Leighton and Backlund for some reason, get claimed off of waivers...

Gonna go with that college tryout goalie!

So what does this mean exactly? I understand what a qualifying offer is and what it means in terms of offer sheets, etc, but does this mean they are not going to try to reach an agreement on another contract unless an offer sheet is given? Or is this just basically a "stall" tactic to avoid them becoming UFAs?

Out of all of them I would say Stewart is the best option, especially if Leino doesn't sign. He's a big winger who can contribute offensively and is still coming into his own at a fairly young age. Being fairly young, maybe he's a better option to an aging Cole.

It seems so, he played 73 games last season, and that injury was in 08-09.

I wouldn't mind Bergfors. If put with the right guy, he could net 30 and we are now in need of secondary scoring.

30? I'd say 20, but not 30. I'm more interested in Tyler Kennedy personally. It would be hilarious if he signed here to stick it to the Penguins.

That is why I used the qualifier, "if put with the right guy" (ie Giroux). JVR-Giroux-Bergfors would be a nice looking line.

I would vomit if we signed Kennedy (or Talbot, in reference to that other thread. Especially Talbot.)

Wouldn't that only really be necessary if one of the two guys sucked so much we needed to call someone else up? If an injury occurs anyone can be the emergency call-up, correct? Or do waivers still apply?

Would love Kennedy! He seems like a hard worker that can score, a good third line pk guy. Only knocks on him are: he was a pen, and is ugly as sin.
Simmonds replace hartnell? Tk replaces Wayne we sign Richards!

It was a joke... pretty much making fun of the whole "Carcillo will be a fan favorite, 20 goal scoring machine."

Glad that came along.

Regarding signing Simmonds and Voracek, I admit to being fuzzy on the details of RFAs and how much power they have to say 'no'. I know that teams need to offer 110%, 105% and 100% on players who made <$660,000, <$1 mil, and >$1 mil, respectively. Neither of Simmonds nor Voracek are arbitration eligible, either, as both have only played 3 seasons in the NHL.

So am I right in understanding that Holmgren can QO them and they have to accept?

No, they are free agents and can sign whatever they want to sign.
