Holik

still don't understand how a guy who played less than 5 years in the league would be #7.

I respect Konstantinov a lot, but... anyway..

If he was still playing you'd see Konstantinov in the top 5 of this draft.

It's really close for me between Bobby Holik and Draper and it would really depend on what my team needed. Overally, I'll take Holik but it's a tough call.

Green and Drake are already in the list, but the others will be added in the next few polls.

sorry, haven't watched the stats before my post.

but are 6 years of konstantinov better than 15 years of Holik?

but I totally agree that without his career-ending injury, he would have been number 5.

In his last two seasons, Konstantinov was arguably one of the top five defencemen in the league. (I believe he was fifth in Norris voting in 1996, and a Norris finalist in 1997). He was so fierce defensively and such a pain to play against, that Scotty Bowman said Konstantinov was Detroit's MVP in 1996 (the year they set a bunch of records) and deserving of Hart consideration.

Konstantinov was a force every year of his career (partially reflective of his older age when he broke in), and maybe the best defensive defenceman in the league his last two years. Holik was a heck of a player, especially in the Devils Cup runs in 1995 and 2000, and their loss to Colorado in 2001 (Holik would have likely won the Conn Smythe had NJ won in 2001). But outside of 2001, I don't think Holik would have ever been considered a top-10 centre.
