“It’s unfortunate that every good thing comes to an end,” Poile said. “Steve will go down in our history as one of our best and most popular players.”
That sums it up right there. Hopefully Sully finds a home and continues his NHL career in a strong way.

In memory of Steve Sullivan, a man whose heart out weighted his body. A true Nashville Predator.

One of my favorite moments as a Preds fan came with Sully. I was at AGame getting my gear on for a private lesson when he walked into my locker room to help his son get dressed. I recognized him immedietly, but didn't say anything out of respect. We small talked while we got our gear on, then as I left I wished him luck in the rehab. He laughed and wished me luck with the season. Just seemed like a truly nice guy, through and through.

Oh, and he's not half as tall as he says he is. not even close.

I was really hoping we could keep him onboard a la martin gelinas, maybe as a PR guy, but I understand he still wants to play and get a Cup.

I was at the game when we traded for Sully and he scored a hat trick the first game. The best of luck to him and it was Poile first big move and he was one of the main players to get us into our first playoffs. I wish him the best of luck and hope he has a job with the Preds after his career is done.

Man, when he says he still has something left in the tank I sure hope he's right; hate seeing these guys hang on past there time, especially when it's a guy that's meant so much to our Preds. Hoping for that cup for Sully!

Thanks for the memories Sully! A class act on and off the ice, few (if any) players have meant so much to the organization during his tenure here. Shame that he was so banged up, hopefully he can get on with an eastern conf. team where the travel is light.

Mark Recchi just retired, so Boston could use a veteran winger.

I remember walking into Centennial for training camp in (I believe) 2007, and Sully was jogging around outside trying to loosen his back up. I could tell from his face that he was in pain and frustrated that he couldn't join the skaters inside, so I didn't bother him. It stood out to me, though. The guy probably couldn't take a single step without unbelievable pain, but he was still at training camp, jogging, trying to get loosened up.

So long, Sullivan. I hope you come back and spend a long time with the organization. We could use a guy like you behind the scenes.

When he was in physical rehab for so long, there was some wondering if he was just not admitting he needed to retire, hanging on trying to bag paychecks. But he returned and played very well, yet some of us wondered if he was too risky for another two years.

But he earned his money as a Nashville Predator. Gotta love Sully's team spirit and his grit, and the example he set. And he played great too. I enjoyed watching his play. One of the rare Preds where I would always feel there was a chance for him to score or deal an assist when he brought the puck into the zone.

Good luck Steve! We'll miss you.

Thank you Stevey! One of the reasons I started watching this team.

Any thoughts on who will pick him up, or if he'll retire?

nothing more needs to be said, i am sure he will go to a team that we hate, and i will cheer..for a moment. i too believe he has more left in tank, but we needed to go a different way and look to the future.

I never thought Sully would be able to come back and I was glad to eat crow on that one. That said, it's a business and he's lost a step. I would love to see him stay within the organization or come back to us someday. No matter where he goes, he will be a Nashville Predator in my heart. Good luck, Sully!

Its sad that Sully will be gone, as long as he is in the Eastern Conference I will be cheering him on most occasions.

Sad day as a fan but one we knew was coming. My Sully wobbler I got as a promo AFTER a game will always be one of my good luck charms when I catch a game on TV!

Thanks for letting me catch a natural hatty and being able to toss my hat on the ice for the first time from up close!

Was a big part of the legitimization of the franchise. Great player, great person. Will be hard to see him in a different jersey. But I'll be rooting for him wherever he goes.

A truly monumental player and statement for this franchise. A sad day indeed. But the time was just right. I was hoping he would join the office staff but he still has something left in the tank. I just hope he joins on with an Eastern Conference team. Good luck Sully!
