Absolutely. But that was surprisingly very bitter sweet for me.

Guess I'm repressing more than I was willing to admit to myself.

Love the signing. Lapierre brings real stability to the fourth line, and he's certainly proven himself capable of stepping into a bigger role when required. Good on faceoffs, good at both ends of the ice, physical player...ideal fourth line center, and a massive, massive upgrade over the likes of Bolduc/Perreault/Bliznak/etc. that we had to endure before the deadline last season.

Great signing. Lapierre will be a 3rd liner playing on the 4th line. Our depth down the middle is awesome.

excellent signing at an excellent price. 4th line is looking like an asset this year, needs one more good player and its set.

If we could get Anthony Stewart for RW and switch Oreo to LW, or the other way around, that 4th line would actually be quite capable all around. Stewart is a playmaker rather than a scorer so he might be able to make that line click offensively, at least a little bit more than your average 4th line. If not Stewart then someone else, just really want us to add someone that has SOME offensive vision and still has size.

Was pumped when I heard about this. Big fan of Lappy! He was huge for us in the playoffs

Luongo is Italian, Burrows Irish and AV is from Hull so that doesn't count either

I'm happy to have him back especially at that cap hit. I love how angry he makes other teams fans.

Burrows is Irish? I thought his father was from England and his mother French Canadian?

Using your criteria, Canada should probably send its 2010 Gold to Europe to divvy up (with the majority of them going to France and England).

I doubt Stweart will be an affordable option for the 4th line. Hell likely have multiple suitors on July 1st as his game has really taken off over the last year and a half. If he takes another step he's a 50 point, 2nd liner. I wouldn't mind seeing him signed but it would probably be for the 3rd line at 3rd line dollars - in the $1.5-$1.7mil range.

Considering the MAB signed for the same contract as Lappy really shows how great of a contract it is.

Not sure they are really that comparable, but yeah, with the cap where it is, this is a terrific deal.

Remember when Marc Chounairds 1.1M contract hampered us in the post lockout season?

I would love for this to happen. I think the Peg is trying to sign him but just didn't want him to go to arbitration with points per ice time going to make his salary jump!

Agreed and I really think this could happen... Love a PF I would give him a couple years at 1.5
