His Games Played and ATOI went up significantly, while remaining a plus player. For a guy like Erskine, that's a huge deal. He got an opportunity and ran with it.
Yup, Erskine's games played nearly doubled this season. I think he's really a guy who was able to benefit from the defensive system the Caps installed midway through the season. Anytime you get a point from him it's just gravy, even if mildly startling. I'll certainly take him over Sloan any day (and twice on Sunday). Besides that, he's tough and physical in front of the net, which I really didn't see a lot of from other Caps. He's slow as balls but seems to make it work (hey, maybe he could get in Schultz's ear...).
