Ya know, all these rumors and stuff make it seem inevitable it's going to happen. But i'm still going to be shocked and say wow the day I sign into this forum and see that thread.

Actually the best thing Drury could do is either retire or accept a trade to like Florida.

No word on any NHLers being placed on waivers yet today, so it remains to be seen.

I'd imagine Sather is looking to do whatever is best for both parties. Watch him trade Drury for a pick lol. They have until Thursday right? Might not see him bought out immediately.

Going to Florida would probably make him feel retired anyway.

aaaaaaaand the saga continues...........I guess they have another buy out period. Maybe they find a trade partner.

Dont think it affects the cap right now anyways

See this isn't good. I may be overreacting a bit, but if he doesn't file the papers that he has a career ending injury or the Rangers don't buy him out for whatever reason and/or can't find a play to deal him to (Or if he'd even waive his NMC) our hopes of signing Richards is out the window pretty much.

I think you are overreacting, what you said is completely false. With Drury and Redden on the summer cap, we still have 30 million in cap space with the 10% cushion. That is more than enough to sign the RFA's and Richards.

The summer cap the team will be fine, i'm talking about for the regular season cap if the Rangers can't put Drury on LTIR if he doesn't file the paper work. Pretty sure that makes things really tight if Drury cap hit remains on the roster at the start of the season.

I mean i'm sure Sather is trying to work out some kind of deal with Drury to be traded or bought out and are waiting until Thursday to put him on waivers. I just don't like the waiting part of things lol.

RangerBoy said it earlier on this page or the last, the Rangers can put Drury on waivers up until Thursday and buy him out on July 1st.

Ok so didn't find anything that went against my understanding of waivers but I am sure RangerBoy will set me straight if I am wrong. Waivers are 24hrs so they can still place him on waivers tomorrow and be able to buy him out on Thursday. The only time waivers are 48 hours is if they put a player on during the weekend.

Let's pretend there is no summer cap, we have 23 million. Well let's assume the RFA's command 12 million combined, that puts us down to 11 million to sign Richards. We won't be that tight on the cap especially because Redden goes down to the Whale in training camp. So assume the 11 million turns into 3.5 million with Richards signed, that goes up to 10 million during the season with Redden demoted to the Whale. We'll be just fine.
