Hmm... I have to agree actually. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find reasons why it won't happen, but "value-wise" I think it's an interesting and entirely doable exchange.

I doubt he went from 60 points to done over the summer last year. I still think he's well worth the gamble on a 1 year deal...veteran guy with a cup ring, former captain, not afraid of traffic, gritty, can play on top lines. Ideally you sign him to play with Eller and AK and move him up if he is needed top 6.

With Laich gone, the only top 6 forwards I see out there are Gagne and Jagr.

For me:

Jagr
Jokinen
Torres

I want one of these three if not all three in a habs uniform. Would be sick.

I would have thought that the fact that he's in open negotiations with multiple teams is proof that he isn't under contract, nor are his rights owned by any particular team, and thus he could sign anywhere as soon as he wants.

TB would match it though, no question about it. If they didn't do it isn't because they intend on not signing him to a contract. I think they are trying to get him at a discounted price like St-Louis. Not sure how that's gonna work for them, would be fun to see a team sign Stamkos to an offersheet only to scew TB's plans up.
They have a few key players that I'm sure they want signed, Purcell and Bergenheim were important to them.
Unless they have a taker for Vinny, which as we've seen, takes forever I'm not sure if they can match it.

If PG keeps resigning all out old players we won't have to worry about it, won't be any roster space for a free agent

Kopecky has been traded, but I haven't heard anything about him being signed yet, although considering Talon was the guy who signed him in Chicago we'll say that's an assured deal unless Kopecky wants to test the UFA market.

Laich got exactly what most people predicted $4.5m.

There's still time to trade Wiz's rights if the Habs don't plan to sign him.

I'd take Cole, but is a good 4 1/2 years older than Laich, and i'd be hard-pressed to give him too long of a contract at the 4-4.5m he'll probably command. I'd go 3 years max. You might have to as high as 5 years to lock him up though--it's just that kind of year.

It was on the main boards earlier today but I don't see it anymore. Maybe they were unable to confirm the source.

Plus, Stewart is about 5 inches too big and 40 pounds to heavy to play here.

Ask some Devils and Stars fans an you will have your answer. He isn't getting any younger and his age shows in about every areas of his play.

I would not give him more than 2M$ on a 1 year deal and I would hope that no one gets hurt so we don't get to see him in the top 6.

Pittsburg wants to keep him instead of Talbot.

Having a Eager-Carcillo-Konopka line would be fun to watch !!!!

I'm all for Rupp, one of the leagues most frequent hitters and good defensive game.

Being a thrashers fan and having experienced Eager on my team before, I have to say HELL no to him. He is such a worthless freakin player. The best thing he ever did for us was get suspended so our damn coach would stop putting him in the game.

Rupp sounds good though.

Chicago obviously was doing it wrong. Sending out a goon line consisting of Eager, Burrish, and Bickell clearly cost them the Stanley Cup to the more "skilled" Flyers.

Oh wait...

Some scrub named Oskars Bartulus helped cough up a goal to Eager.
