alot of people werent high initially on girardi 4 years ago. same with sauer last year.

things have a way of changing as players get comfortable, gain confidence and start showing that they can play.

one things for sure, strong competition in camp is always a plus and having talented prospects keeping that pipeline filled is the key to being competitive long term.

Awards:
A good illustration of why the organization now places such a high emphasis on character.

Hopefully to avoid trading our 70+ point two-way captain and his 30+ goal scoring friend...

Taking a look at the rosters, it's no wonder that White blew the doors off Blue:
From Gross:

Dylan McIlrath, the 10th overall pick in 2010, was the strongest player on the ice as he led White to an 8-3 win over Blue this morning at the MSG Training Center. McIlrath, known more for his defense and physical play, had a goal and two assists as he displayed a nice shot from the right point.

....now wait for it, heh, heh.

try last year. we were told that he was an awful defenseman, and anyone who thought otherwise didn't know a thing about hockey.

True, and I hope Pashnin can change my mind on him through good play, but right now with a system stuffed with very good d-men prospects I want to see a little more than hitting everything in sight and tiring yourself out.

And the start of penciling McI on the right side of the 3rd pairing in the Off-Season Thread begins in 3....2....1..... lol

nah that's a lie. People were annoyed with his inconsistent play and felt that he would be better in a role with less responsibility, and they were correct. Girardi was pretty inconsistent up until last year, when he really took a step forward.

At least this year I didn't have to watch him get caught watching the puck and then getting blown by to the outside

That would be as foolish as saying he has no potential or that Girardi should be traded.

Progress, patience.

Would be absolutely shocking if McIlrath was ready to make the jump to NHL next year.

That said, we really cant start on lineup speculation until at least a week after unrestricted free agency begins.

Absolutely.

Think 2-3 years. No reason what so ever to rush him or anyone else.

the scrimmage means very little and we need to see how he does in real camp...but it is nice to see mcilrath discussed for positive things for a change.

Dan Girardi Needs To Go Thread- February 3, 2010

Quote:
Horrible....just brutal. For MONTHS now, Rosy has gotten much better after a terrible first 2 months, and Redden while not that great, isnt overally bad either...but Girardi? I'm so sick of the stupid turnovers he creates if god forbid someone comes in hard on him.
Quote:
Cut ties with him already, find some sucker team to deal him to for anything. The more we hang onto him the lower his stock is going.
Quote:
Girardi was getting better for a while, but he's been on a downward trend for a month or two now yet again. Dude is garbage.
And here's the quote I was referring to:

Quote:
Girardi is terrible.

Anyone who thinks he isn't, does not know anything about hockey. End of story. The guy is absolutely clueless what to do when he has to make an actual decision for himself. Girardi should be waived.
I've PMed you my mailing address for my hand-written apology.

Yeah, there was a feeling out there that Redden was being held back by Renney, so when Torts got here, the anti-Renney crowd made themselves believe that Redden was playing well for months.

if it weren't so frustrating it would have been funny. it's pretty funny now.

The thing with Girardi was mainly because of the Carcillo incident. After that, a lot of people soured on him and every mistake, and every perceived mistake, was magnified. If people don't like a player for whatever reason, they will find things wrong with his game, even if they don't actually exist.

Also, Girardi was coming up for a new contract and these people didn't want to pay him what he was worth. Now a year later, Girardi is coming off his best season as a Ranger and most people now realize that his contract is a bargain.

There are still plenty of people though that throw him into every trade proposal, even though we can't afford to trade him. Just as there are still people who hold a grudge against Dubinsky for his holdout 2 years ago.

dont pat yourself on the back too hard my friend

findind posts by posters jumping all over a slumping player are hardly difficult to come by

anyone who DIDNT have any concerns about girardi and the amount of responsiblilty given to him were just as ridiculous as the ones claiming he was garbage

Haha, I was called to be on crack for suggesting he's a #4/5 on a good team... Well, I'm glad Girardi silenced all the doubters.
