the austrian goal machine clearly foresees deflation in the near future

It's most likely less salary for a one-way contract.

Awesome that both did sign.

I just thought of something last night, imagine the hard time we would have if we had both Nodl and Noebels on a line. Probably screw-up-of-names prone.

his cap hit was $850k, but about $100k of that was from a signing bonus spread out over the 3 years of his ELC. His yearly salary was roughly $725k.

Also, he was on a two-way deal, now it's just a one-way

Good catch, Rick... Entry level contract was indeed a two-way, and included signing and playing bonuses, with the Cap hit being $850K http://capgeek.com/players/display.php?id=756

Bottom line though is while the cash output may be greater with no AHL reduction, the Cap hit is still favorable for the Flyers by a little amount... Still a good sign (no pun intended) IMO.

Like Gene Hart's story about the Schick, Shack, Schuck (sp?x3) line with a Seventies Pens team.

I'm fine with that cap hit for Nodl. He had a higher than anticipated season last year, if he can stay solid I'll be happy.

The Cap hit was still $850K while in the NHL though... even with the bonus per CapGeek. http://capgeek.com/players/display.php?id=756

love the nodl signing. I think he is an above average 4th liner who can fill in sporadically in the top 9.

It's probably actually a raise for him, he just didn't reach bonuses. Those guys tend to have a lower cap hit in their next contract.

But most of us thought he'd be getting over $1M, so this is still very nice to see.

Tommy has skills (how much really is TBD) He is a good fighter and a tough competitor. He can't hardly stay seated when he's in the sin bin as he has to mouth off to each opponent as they skate by. I think you'll love him. I know I was sure saddened to see him leave Columbus.

His last year base salary was $600,000 which meant his qualifying offer would only have to be $660,000. So it's a decent deal for him.

Would he be an RFA again after this contract ends?

He really started to come on late last year, glad to see they've kept him.

I hope Sestito replaces Shelley as the 13th forward.

That is a nice number, league minimum I believe. A salary like that can help him secure a spot with the big club easier.

Just now noticed that Leighton is now listed with the Non-Roster Players along with Walker on CapGeek.com ... Thought with their being recalled up for the Posseason they were on the Roster until they were able to be waived down during/after Camp... This is a recent development there, and I must say the added Cap space looks mighty sweet.
